Since South Korea President Lee Myung-Bak proclaimed “low carbon green growth” as a central tenant of Korean economic growth, the Korean government has tried to define green growth in the Korean socioeconomic context. “Green growth is something that maximizes the synergy of both the environment and growth through their circular structure. Namely, green growth is the concept of securing new growth opportunity by making economic growth patterns eco-friendly.” Energy conservation and efficiency” andlow-carbon green growth have emerged as the latest buzzwords. The Korea central government, businesses and local governments have joined hands to come up with diverse policies to conserve energy. But what is more important is the proactive participation of citizens in energy conservation and environmental protection.
