pop goth

A particular group of people that only dress and act gothic when it's popular to do so. Hot Topic goes through certain "phases" in their merchandising. Sometimes they cater to the punk kids. Sometimes they cater to the emo kids. And sometimes they cater to the goth kids. But the goth kids I make reference to are not bona-fide goth kids. They are only goth kids when it's their turn at Hot Topic. But when their turn ends and Hot Topic turns emo once again (they never cater to the metalheads, Hot Topic metal is trash) they may in fact be normal kids. dressing in normal clothes and acting like normal kids act.
"I liked Nightmare Before Christmas a lot more before the pop goths at Hot Topic wore it out and ruined it."

pop goth

1. a brand of music that takes the roots of gothic rock and waters it down into plastic, manufactured, mainstream, radio-friendly swill. Much like pop punk, but with goth music instead.

2. bands that the mainstream often perceives as goth, but, in actuality, are as far as any band can get from being so.

Notable bands within this genre include:

the 69 Eyes
A.F.I.
Aiden
Cradle of Filth
Evanescence
H.I.M.
Marilyn Manson
My Chemical Romance
Panic! at the Disco
Slipknot
I'm so sick of these magazines referring to MCR as "goth". Why don't they call it what it really is --"pop goth"?

I told my little brother to turn down the HIM. I'm not in the mood for pop goth.

Pop Goth

A subculture of the Goth music and fashion culture. It is characterized by bright colors and bold prints paired with the standard blacks (and sometimes whites) of standard goth dress. Music in the Pop Goth style usually sounds similar to bubblegum pop, but will feature heavy beats, strange instruments (like the theramine or harpsichord,) and lyrics focused on the macabre.
"Did you hear the new Billie Eilish song? SO Pop Goth."

"That red coffin print is very Pop Goth."

Poppy Goth

1.Stereotypically, a person seeking to be popular by listening to 'punk bands' and 'heavy metal/goth bands' (the kind on the radio and MTV), only dressing in black, always wanting/wearing tattoos, spikey bracelets, collars, etc., supposedly harbouring violent and sadistic tendencies, but not really accepting any of the good ideas of either goths or punks. Usually found in high schools across North America. Not that there is anything wrong with America, punks, goths, the colour black, rock music, or just plain old self-expression. Just stupid people

2.The 'preps' of the twenty-first century

"That poppy goth John/Jean Smith just told me that if I want to study the social hierarchy of Imperial China instead of learning about how Christopher Columnbus found America, I should just move to China with the rest of those'red yellow pink commies'! Then he/she listened to some crappy music on the radio with some pansy screeming about how his daddy didn't hug him enough and hit some kid about 75 pounds lighter than him/herself with that stupid spikey, leather bracelet! Weak!"

Power Couple

A relationship between two people who are equally as cool as each other. They are as individually awesome and fun to be around as they are when they are together.

Neither one depends on the other for their feelings of self worth- they know in their heart that they are just as valuable to the world as the other. Good looking, optimistic, and sparks a light in the world that people recognize that goes beyond a normal relationship.

In a power couple, if one person is flawed, the other person makes up for their weaknesses in strength. Together they are the epitome of what anyone would desire in a relationship. They encourage goodness in the world and make it a better place by being together.
I'm a fan of those two, they are such a power couple, the epitome of what anyone would want in a relationship.

I am envious of them because they are a power couple.
