In the original Battlestar Galactica series, the fumarello is a fairly large cigar. Typically seen near or in Starbuck's mouth, much to the dismay of the Cylons, their chest armor and Starbuck's girlfriend Cassieopia.
In the original 1978 episode "The Man with Nine Lives" Starbuck enjoys smoking a good fumarello, which is really just a cigar.
