look up any word, like cunt:
The ability to do what you ought to do. Often confused with license, which is the ability to do whatever you want.

Why is freedom the ability to do what you OUGHT to do, and not what you WANT to do?

If we take it as a given that freedom is universal (or should be), then freedom cannot be whatever YOU want it to be. Let's say, for example, that you wanted to kill me. Your "freedom" would infringe on my own "freedom". Or let's say you wanted to raise taxes on me to increase your own freedom. That detracts from MY freedom.

Therefore, if all of us are entitled to freedom, this definition of freedom is invalid because it doesn't safely entitle everyone universal freedom.

The definition I have posted, that freedom is being able to do what one OUGHT to do, however, IS freedom because when one does what he OUGHT to do, instead of what he wants to, he infringes on no one else's freedom. He disrupts no one in their freedom, but instead directs them TO freedom if they are not free. The only person who can limit your freedom in a society where freedom is doing good is oneself.
Father Corapi preaches the difference between freedom and license. Freedom is what Christianity is all about. God made us to be FREE. And even if that is what the Illuminati want, let's baffle 'em and be free in God!

1. Something the U.S government wants its citizens to think they have, but in reality we are only as free as they want us to be.

2.When our people try to excercise their freedom, the government takes it away.

3.We can't have freedom because it would mean the government is out of a job(that job being to make sure that any "freedoms" we as Americans try to excercise our right to have are taken away).

4.Something the government doesnt want us to have because it means we wouldnt need them and they could no longer hold us hostage in our own goddamn country.
The first amendment(freedom of speech, religion, expression of opinions, etc.) is a freedom that Americans are supposes to have BUT really the only freedom of speech we have is to AGREE with everything that our government shoves up our asses. Once we use said freedoms to DISAGREE with or say anything that goes against the government, that "FREEDOM" is taken away.

Doesn't exist...

There are levels of liberty but none are free... despite what America says...

American version: Pissing on some people... sometimes literally.
During the war on Iraq the American troops brung freedom to Iraq's people... this meant that some of the soldiers got to torture the some of the SURVIVORS!

Freedom is an oxymoron when used by any President of the USA; it's what the USA takes of people in order to secure its own 'Freedom' in wars such as Iraq. The act of securing the American people's freedom actively endangers their freedom further while destroying that of others; this leads to the need to further secure Americans' freedom and hence a cycle is created which will ultimately end in the destruction of the earth. Pre 'War on Terror' the Truman Doctrine ensured the 'freedom' of peoples threatened by communism.
Iraq was invaded to secure American freedom.

1. Freedom is society providing a semi level playing field for individuals to pursue goals and achieve or fail as the individuals character allows.
2. Freedom is a society providing opportunity for the individual to live by the principles which are correct for that individual.
3. Something Mel Gibson says in Braveheart before he opens a can.
1. Freedom allowed Bill Gates to take a money bath after taking the initiative to design some of the best software allowed.
2. Freedom allowed me to not go to a mosque, because that's not right for me.
3. Frrreeeeeeeeeddooooom! (Slaughters the freedom oppressors)

Not American! That's not to say it's French, either. Freedom belongs to no one and is sought after by anyone with an ego.
Freedom is more than a cheap "patriotic" buzzword.

Being free from all worldly ties and not being restricted by the suffocating nature of sin.
Confess your sins and the Lord shall give you eternal freedom. Don't be a conformist.

"I tell you the truth, everyone who sins is a slave to sin. Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed".
