An outstanding technical musician who also has an incredible amount of range and creativity as an overall artist. Aside from this, he has a serious side where he remains existential in a humble way, not in a "champagne supernova" way. He flaunts musical conventions and has fun doing it; he is very much the bad ass, which can be off-putting to record companies and strident audiences. He puts his fans first and is funny and eclectic and I call his concerts, "Iconoclasm 101." I love this man . . . . I wish he was my friend . . . I went to see Ben Folds. Now I can take people on, feel sad, laugh, and think deeply. Thanks also, supporting band members and audiences around the world who feed off his energy. The emotions felt from his music fuck you up and then build you back into feeling human again, great shit Ben. He is a musician first and a rock star second, and if I was ever lucky enough to meet the man I would shake his hand and say. "thank you."
