|
1. Usually short cuts in a musical composition that are not serious songs; used to "fill" the playing time or explain the meaning of a song. Quotes from movies are the most common filler.
2. Refers to the greens that remain at the end of a smoked joint. Saved on a tray and used to pack bowls. "Pass the filler, all I have is shake."

When a band releases an album where there's only a couple good songs, and they need more to make a whole album, so they make crappy songs knowing they aren't that great just to complete the CD since you need at least around 8 songs for a good CD. The Shins' new album "Wincing the Night Away" has only a few great songs on it, and around 15 tunes in total, so they make a bunch of album fillers in order to make it a full-length album

| 5. | Strange Days | ||
|
Follow up album to the Doors' ground breaking debut. Released in October 1967, this album enjoyed success similar to its predecessor (peaking at #3). However, its always been classified as a step down from the group's first album. Mainly because the idea is that the best songs were cherry-picked for the Doors' first album and these are the left overs.
Still on its own this album is excellent and has a ton of great Doors hits including Love Me Two Times, People Are Strange, Moonlight Drive, Strange Days and another 11 minute epic known as When The Music's Over. Often known as the Doors' darkest release, Strange Days is very underrated. Even the "filler" tracks are excellent namely the moody You're Lost Little Girl. The only thing weak here is Horse Latitudes a wretched poem written by Jim Morrison. None the less, a formidable follow up. Despite Love Me Two Times and People Are Strange reaching the TOP 40 and the Strange Days album peaking at #3, Elektra excecutives deemed Strange Days a disappointment, claiming that its sales were bad. Many executives felt that the album's dark depressing tone turned off listeners.
Jim Morrison has often been quoted to saying this is his favourite Doors' album. Many of the songs from Strange Days were written during the time the Doors were recording their first album (some even earlier). It has often been considered that Strange Days' songs were the left overs from the Doors first album sessions. |

Oftened generalized as "granola rockers" or as the band that picked up the mantle of the Grateful Dead, The music of Phish draws from styles and genres including rock (in its loosest sense), jazz, blue grass, funk. Phish has been known to perform in wetsuits, on flying hot dogs, with gospel choirs and using a vacume cleaner.

Phish is, first and foremost, a jam band. Concerts are made up of long periods of instrumental rocking and chord progression manipulation and expansion whereas studio versions of songs more often list more "filler" songs (although they are still good) and shortened versions of the huge concert warhorse pieces. Phish is: 1) Trey Anastasio (Lead vocals, Guitar) 2) Mike Gordon (Bass, Vocals) 3) Page McConnel (Anything with a keyboard, Vocals) 4) Jon Fishman (Percussion, Vacume Cleaner) Phish sampler songs (to get you into the band) 1) Run Like An Antelope 2) The Squirming Coil 3) You Enjoy Myself 4) Divided Sky 5) Mike's Song In parallel to their beloved band, Phish fans have a reputation for carrying the mantle of the |

Killer new Tool album. Give it a few listens, before
making a judgement. Best songs are listed below. 1. All of them. (except for the filler in between song tracks) 27.40 years. Vicarious, Jambi, Wings pt1 and 10,000 days, the pot. Are very awesome songs. Some songs take a long time to get going. Be open minded.
