The people of the Philippines

Filipinos are often unfairly stereotyped.

Filipinos are NOT Mexicans of the East. We are as different as watermelon and oranges.

The median income of Filipinos in the States (check the U.S. census bureau for supporting info) is higher than that of white, blacks, latinos and even Chinese-Americans & Korean-Americans.

The AIDS rate in the Philippines is noticeably lower than that of Japan, China and America.

Filipinos have many amazing, more than worthwhile accomplishments

The Phil national hero Jose Rizal travelled to Japan, Austria, Germany and San Francisco. There are busts & monuments dedicated to the cities/towns he visited. In Wilhelmsfeld Germany, there is a street named "José-Rizal-Straße" (Jose Rizal Street). It is named after him.

Currently, Manny Pacquiao, Donito Donaire, Charice Pempengco and Arnel Pineda are raising the bar of Filipino pride.

Other successes include fashion designer Monique Lhuillier and singer Lea Salonga ~

However, there are Filipinos who also made contributions in math & science. Google search, Filipino mathematicians or Filipino inventors!

Filipinos are a people of many talents and memorable positive characteristics.

They are part of what makes this world, amazing.
If u want an example of how hardcore an individual of Filipino heritage can be, read about the U.S. army scout sniper Ramon Subejano.

Loosely, any person who is a citizen of or immigrant from the Philippines.

Filipinos are an intelligent hard working group of people who are better categorized as Pacific Islanders than Asians. Although the 7000+ islands comprising the filipines are closer to the area known as asia, the culture and people share little else with their asian neighbors.

Filipinos do not use chopsticks and the preferred method of eating is with the bare hands, Tagalog (as well as the 140 other languages native to the the area) are of polynesian origin and structure. Traditionally, dance, mythology and ritual tattoos were a part of the culture, in similar fashion to most other polynesian cultures.

During the Spanish invasion, the Spaniards continued their practice of killing anyone unwilling to convert to Catholocism (i.e the native American indians of Western America). A smart lot, most Filipinos converted rather than facing a painful death. However, much of the indigenous culture was sadly lost.

She doesn't really look asian - maybe she is Filipino.

the Filipinos should deport you son of a bitch.

1. Generally speaking Filipinos are hardworkers.
-why would they go far away from home just to work in a foreign land.

2. TheAsian is right

3. thats Tagalog.
-theres a lot of doorbell sound-like words in the language but its not annoying.

4. Well isnt there any golddigger in your country you narcissistic son of a bitch?

5. TheAsian is quite right.

6. That's our culture.
- That's the way surviving and living in a 3rd world country.

10.of course we want our kids to born in America. there are many opportunities in America that we cant get here in the Philippines.

11. English is the universal language and it is part of our official language used in the country so get over it.

12. of course we eat rice and meat.
-Again we are asians! and asians eat rice and meat, what do you think we'll eat? pure rice?

-We are not pacific islanders, we are asians, we are part of southeast asia. (How can you live here for 5 years and not know that, arent you stupid.)

-The only thing that im proud that the spanish brought us is Christianity.

Racially, there is no such thing as "Filipino" race. This is because Filipinos consist of Spanish, Chinese, African, Indian, Polynesian, Austronesian etc. blood. They are among the most resilient and adaptable people on Earth. You can find them in the coldest parts of Alaska or Canada, to hottest part of Middle East, to the roughest of oceans as seafarers. They are generally small and short in stature, but are much tougher than they appear. Their faith in their religion and their family bonds make them the mentally toughest group of people in the world. Filipinos particularly those who grew up in the Philippines are shy and unassuming. However, behind those meekness lies the heart of a lion! Filipinos who grew up in the first world countries generally are arrogant.

Filipinos are very hospitable and friendly, often misinterpreted by English-speaking Europeans or Americans as something else. Life is tough in the Philippines that's why Filipinos go abroad even in places like Afghanistan, Iraq, Somalia or Nigeria. If you think your life is tough due to the current economic situation? You ain't seen nothing, mate. Go live in the Philippines and you'll see what really "tough situation" means from a Filipino perspective. No matter how bad a situation is, a Filipino will always find a reason to laugh.
Manny Pacquiao is a great example of a Filipino. He is far from perfect that is why he represents the "real Filipino" as opposed to Jose Rizal or those elite people of the past.

Filipinos are not just "another race". We are hardworking, honest, and proud to be alive and well. Our country may be small, but we still love and respect it. Who cares if we're short? Who cares if we're poor? We live everywhere in the world. We don't eat rice and work all day. We have vacation time! Some of us are ANNOYED and ANGERED by the stereotypes that Americans and other people make up about us. We try to be friendly and on good terms with people. But sometimes people just don't care...

In conclusion, a Filipino is an honest, kind, loyal, and friendly person. A Filipino is WHO I AM!!!
I AM A FILIPINO!!!!!!!!!!

Filipinos are a hybrid race that make up asians and spanish. They are very kind, and hardworking people. My favorite Asian and Hispanic if you ask me. Many people may look down upon them however in America, their average salary is increasing and their socioeconomic status is leveling with whites.
I love filipinos

LUMPIA PLEASE!
