Used especially in the ICT Service Sector, a discount employee is someone who does a far worse job than a non-discount employee but Employers are fine with this because the employee's salary is lower to match the expectation. Usually Chinese or Indian descent, to say so would generally invoke a Racist Card being played on you for calling it out. But does not make it any less True. Economically it is a Fallacy, It usually takes three to four discount employees to do the job of one non-discount employee, therefore it is actually not in your financial interest to hire discount employees. The mistakes, the lost productivity, the unhappiness of the staff relative to wages, and the turnover of discount employees are greater as they move up to higher-paying jobs once they gain enough experience. This also does not take into account the "clown world" & "clown factory" aspect of the circus that ensues when you leave a bunch of poorly managed discount employees to their own devices. Managing a discount employee is much more resource-consuming due to a myriad of factors from less initiative, less comprehension of complex tasks, sometimes language barriers, and non-assimilating work culture. They generally hang out in clicky groups and do not form bonds with other employees and talk about their bosses with contempt and lack of respect in their language even in front of their managers, knowing their managers don't understand what they are talking about.
My entire department is discount employees and I can't get anything achieved. We are actually not saving money hiring all of these people. I have no idea what the hell they are doing, and the more I look into what they are doing I am certain they don't even know what they are doing!
