| 3. | Post Modern Rock | ||
|
A genre of music, really a supergenre, encompassing many other genres including indie rock, indiepop, twee, britpop, shoegazer, electronic, electro, glitchpop, some singer/songwriter, lo-fi, and older genres including punk, new wave and Madchester. Former terms were "Modern Rock" or "Alternative," but these became obsolete when their meaning was corroded circa 1992. They then became used to describe corporate nu-rock. Record store clerk 1: "So, I listen to a lot of bands. Like, Flaming Lips, Death Cab for Cutie, Ballboy, Doves, My Bloody Valentine, Royksopp, Adult., Lali Puna, Denison Witmer, Daniel Johnston, The Ramones, The Clash, Talking Heads, New Order and Primal Scream, just to name a few. I feel like it's all one supergenre, but I don't know what you call it."
Record store clerk 2: "You'd call that Post Modern Rock." |

GENERAL GOTH:
more...
TRUE: A Goth is someone who is usually into the darker side of the world. Where punk is mostly about government, freedom, and politics, Goth is mostly about religion(theology), philosophy, and mysticism. A true Goth is not a depressed suicidal person. They are deep into thought and feeling, know who they are. A goth, not Gothic, or Gothics (that's socially incorrect, it really pisses them off, at least the real ones, not the poseurs), generally do not worship Satan, although you can be a Goth and of any religion, many are Christian, and I know a few that are Catholic. Goths likes to be individual and often creates or modify's their clothing. Usually consisting of mainly black. Spikes are usualy not a goth thing. Tribal designs and religios related jewlry are common, such as crucifixes and pentagrams. Most are very intelligent and creative, and dont necissarily do drugs, think about murder, cut themselves, or sacrifice animals, and again with the worship Satan thing. Although many of them are pagan or wiccan. If someone "becomes a Goth" because they couldn't get any friends or are depressed and angry all the time, they are most likely a poseur, actually just take out the whole most likely part. You are who you are because it is who you are, not because of the things that make you a poseur. The music a Goth may listen to can range to almost anything. Usually it consists of Gothic( ex. London After Midnight), Goth rock (69 Eyes) , metal(Slayer), electronic... |

2003 // The Year We Made Contact: During nuclear spring 2003 four motley-looking guys dressed in black with heavy make up and black leather charm met on earth to design a new synthetic dawn. 4 AM, adrenachaos rising, bodies sweating, hearts beating. They had a dream: creating a rock 'n' roll band with a gritty, highly seducing blend of punk attitude and industrial sonic attacks. Machines meet sweat and blood: enter the matrix, neuromancer, rust. Theta Wave Resonance. Theta Division growing. Victor Love, Grace Khold, Darin Yevonde, Brian Wolfram. Dope Stars Inc. was born. Adore the future, worship revolution. On the 8th of May 2003, 8.53 PM, the band started to work on its first, raw and powerful release in a rusty and dirty cellar beneath the shallow suburbia of Rome. The result was "10.000 Watts Of Artificial Pleasures": a storming melting pot of industrial overloads, R'n'R razor-shaped guitars, Goth decadence, fast and furious punk attitude, pop melodies and techno hammer-beats. Recording was such carnage, Grace sleeping on the floor, Victor smashing guitars and computers, Darin travelling all time, drinking too much red bull to stay awake. Those were weeks of lust, wild parties and good morning headaches, but Dope Stars Inc. always stayed on the track, guitars roaring and machines burning. The EP blew the press away in few weeks, getting an unbelievable feedback from magazines and collecting top score reviews and a... |
