| 2. | Avonlea | ||
|
proper n. An excellent television series adapted from the works of canadian novelist Lucy Maud Montgomery (of Anne of Green Gables fame). Expertly produced by Kevin Sullivan, Avonlea follows the lives of turn-of-the-century famillies living on beautiful Prince Edward Island, or PEI.
The series stands out for its beautiful scenery and sets, authentic costumes, well-devised plotlines, excellent acting and evocative themes. The overall quality of the production brings to mind Merchant/Ivory costume dramas. Most Americans familliar with the series watched it on The Disney Channel, which used to carry it weekly. It should also be noted that this is the show on which actress Sarah Polley (Dawn of the Dead remake, Go!) played her first important role, as the impetuous Sarah Stanley. Unfortunately, this beautiful drama has faded into obsqureity, now remembered only by die-hard Green Gables fans. Avonlea was probably the best period drama ever produced, rivaling even Little House on The Prarie, and I hereby record its greatness for posterity's sake.

| 5. | ash crack | ||
|
ash crack is 'crack' or a joke that is in no way, shape or form the slightest bit funny and makes a man want to cry. Something that is said to be ash crack can be a poor effort of sarcasm or a comment that is intended to be funny but everything falls still and stops breathing, dies a little and commonly tumble weeds roll across scenery. People have been known to have that bad 'ash crack' that they have been put inside tyres and burnt alive (worse case scenario) common punishments include slaps and verbal abuse. 'Ash' can also mean 'dead' A: 'pass me them turkey twizlers'
B: ' I turkey twizzled your mum' A: ' NO, that was ash crack' B: ' yer right in her crack' (que tumble weed, verbal abuse and wet fish slap) e.g. somebody starts telling a really long crap joke. You yell 'Just bore off with your ash crack, your giving me a boregasm!' |

The Isle of Wight is a brilliant place to live for people of all ages, we have some of the most popular business's in the UK and have fabulous scenery. We're famous for our Isle of Wight Festival which brings people from all over the UK. Although we have had some ruff times in the past we are all fighting through it and making great friends doing so. The Isle of Wight has a very stereotypical view that we only have elderly people here - this isn't true. We have a wide scale of people children to the elderly. I live on the Isle of Wight.
