STUDIO GHIBLI: INTRODUCTION
The greatest mainstream animation studio of our generation, headed by the greatest animator of our time, Hayao Miyazaki.
Has consistently produced works that all uphold the studio's foundation of creative artistry and story-telling.
Unfortunately, it is shadowed by the American powerhouses Pixar/Disney, who have mastered the art of creating family-friendly films and entertainment, but nonetheless lack an emotional/narrative appeal.
FOCUS ON ART/NARRATIVE, NOT MASS-APPEAL
Studio Ghibli is dedicated purely to the arts and narrative behind each story. It is known for its sentimental appeal and beautiful traditional animation, not focusing on entertainment.
WHERE HAS THE MAGIC GONE....
Studio Ghibli can only be summed up as the place where the only real bit of magic has moved, after the downfall of the "magic" of Disney into the 2000's.
The magic of a pencil, not a computer, the beauty of a well-crafted story, and the sacredness of art above mass-appeal, this is what Studio Ghibli believes in.
Studio Ghibli is magic.
beautiful computer animation
masterful money generator/Oscar nabber
lack of meaningful themes or remembrance of film
owns Pixar now
famed for beautiful animation, but since long gone
-dedicated to art, not entertainment
-known for themes like individualism, environmentalism, feminism, friendship, etc., rather than exclusively love
-known for powerful narrative/story-telling, not entertainment
Something produced to look "all new" and shit but having the same content and atmosphere about it. These things are but are not limited to: actors, comedians, designers, TV shows, music, toys, appearance, sexual activity, even so much as a state of mind.
" I don't know, man...everything in our culture in this day and age is so contrived."
"pixar and dreamworks movies are very contrived"
"Hipsters actually are EXTREMELY contrived."
A movie made by Disney/Pixar.
I am going to watch Finding Nemo.
The most balanced movie of all time, and what made Pixar.
Loved by everyone, and puts Disney to shame.
1. Short for "not emo"
2. The little orange fish in the Disney/Pixar movie.
1. Oh man, they're so hip. They're definitely nemo.
2. Nemo was my favorite character in that "Finding Nemo" movie, but I also liked Dory.
The largest producer of shitty direct-to-DVD sequels of their half-decent movies.
Disney split up with Pixar on an account that "The Incredibles 2," "Finding Nemo 2," and "Monsters Inc 2" did not come out straight to DVD.
Snotrod is one of the four young street racers from the Disney/Pixar film, Cars. He is a Pro Street version of the new Dodge Challenger concept car, sporting "Hemi-orange" paint, phantom decals, Torque Thrust D rims, redline tires, a large blower with an over-sized air scoop, Zoomie exhaust pipes and orange under glows. He normally lags a few car lengths behind his pack buddies; Boost, DJ and Wingo to allow breaking distance for his super-charged sneezes which often add on an uncontrollable burst of insane speed.
"Oh no, Snotrod!" -Boost "He's gonna blow!!" -Wingo
