An Anime Music Video (also known as AMV) is a music video that consists of anime clips from one anime show, or more than one, combined with a song playing in the background. Taking an estimate, I'd say that 90% of these are made by japanophiles and wapanese. These videos are, and seem to have almost seem have taken birth on youtube.

Anime music videos are usually intended to use whatever songs playing in the background to bring out the emotion in the clips, but about half of the time, AMVs fail horribly. The problem is, is that alot of the music that is used in AMVs are songs by Linkin Park, or bands that make songs in the Punk/Emo Genre.

People, often adults in their 20s and 30s (age-wise, their biology still often resembles that of a prepubescent 12 year-old), who are overly obsessed with Anime.

Out of all nerds, they are by far the most annoying. They always talk about how Japan is the best culture and country in the world (how I wished they all moved there), and often speak in Japanese as though it makes them sound cool and superior.

All of their money is spent on anime related products and spend their entire lives on either watching, playing, talking about, or acting out anime. They even sleeptalk anime phrases (Pikachu, no!). They literally spend $30 dollars on a 'cute' Pikachu plushie that probably costs 10 cents to make.

They often claim themselves to be the 'smart' nerds because they are able to follow a nonsensical Pokemon plot which is normally outgrown by the average 11 year-old.

I should also mention that these shows are often mistaken for anime.

2. Funny and exaggerated facial expressions

A lot of defintions on here for the word 'anime' have been hopelessly ill-informed. I hope to give a more accurate defintion that doesn't make me sound like an idiot. Anime is a form of animation orginating in Japan. Common elements in characters include large, shiny eyes, often spiky or unusually colored hair, long legs, etc. There are always exceptions to these rules, such as in Hayao Miyazaki's movies, which have more realistic proportions and hair. Often in anime, one episode will continue into the next, instead of each episode being a one-shot. There are several different types, like Shounen, for boys, which typically feature a male protagonist and lots of fighting and action, Shoujo, for girls, with female protagonists and the main focus being romance or comedy. There is also Josei, for young women, which I imagine are like soap operas(Never watched any), and Seinen, for teenagers and young men, which are often horror or thriller animes, and are usually considered too scary for children. There is also shounen/shoujo ai, which is gay/lesbian romance without sex, and yaoi/yuri, which is with sex. Many people say that anime is for 12-year-old dorks, but I myself have watched anime that would scar a 12-year-old for life. They also say anime is porn. There is a category of anime called hentai that is pornographic in nature, but the vast majority is not. Some anime is incredibly good, some is atrocious. And the stereotypes aren't necessarily true for all.

The Japanese artists who draw anime females seem to have a serious cat fetish. Seriously, just look at the female faces. Don't they look catlike? With the small noses, huge mouths, and big watery, cute, hypnotic eyes. Not that it matters though, since the babes have big, bouncing, perfect tits and sexy, curvacious asses to go with the faces, and cats are cool.
