contemporary christian music ccm
contemporary christian music isn't defined yet, but these are close:
1. Jesus-is-my-girlfriend
Adj., a Contemporary Christian Music (also called CCM) song that means to appeal to an audience outside of typical listeners of CCM by replacing "Jesus" with "You" in hopes of making the Christian content of the song less obvious to non-Christian listeners.
Creed pisses me off. They try to sound like a genuine effect of American counterculture, but it's just a bunch of Jesus-is-my-girlfriend music that Christians think is cowardly and non-believers see right through.
2. Amy Grant
A gorgeous, conservative, Christian artist who sings and plays guitar, and was born during the very early 1960s in Augusta, Georgia. She began her career and ascent into the Contemporary Christian Music world in the late 1970s. By the early 80s, she was a superstar. Finally, in 1985, secular music record producers were forcing record companies to let her make a secular, mainstream album. It was a great success; Unguarded was released that year and spawned the hits "Find A Way" and "Everywhere I Go". The following year in 1986 saw the release of Amy's first compilation: Amy Grant - The Collection. It included two new secular songs and every other secular and Christian hit to date, including "My Father's Eyes", "El Shaddai", "Sing Your Praise To The Lord", "Emmanuel", "I Have Decided", "Thy Word", and "Angels".
Amy reverted back to Christian music in 1988's album Lead Me On, which produced a new hit of the same name. However, with the dawn of the 90s, Amy was once again encouraged and influenced to make more mainstream secular pop. In 1991, she released Heart In Motion, probably her most successful album ever. It produced FIVE incredible hit songs that ruled the airwaves.
Today she lives in Nashville, Tennessee with her husband, Vince Gill. With over a dozen albums and two compilations to call her own, she has been one of the greatest music...

5. Christian Rock
A genre fueled by various degrees of rock music-loving Christians. Often criticized for bland or mushy lyrics, mostly on the grounds that profanity is not present. It is found in one of the most misunderstood CD aisles at your local Wal-mart. The critics usually have no idea what they are talking about, since the only music that they've heard is the kind played on the "Contemporary Christian" radio station. The real rock music is never played on the Contemporary Christian stations, hence its followers are either broke from buying CDs or are sadly breaking the commandment "Thou shall not steal."

Topics addressed in Christian Rock include all those found in regular rock music, but with a biblical twist. Many songs cannot be identified as part of Christian music, except for the challenge that they propose to society.
Person 1: I love Christian Rock, especially Switchfoot!
Person 2: Switchfoot is Christian Rock? I didn't know that. Well, I'm never listening to them again. I'll stick to polluting my mind with worldly ideals, thank you very much.

Rather, it's certain bands and artists within every single genre of music.
