Colitas, "Little Tails", or its slang, "Little Buds".
On a dark desert highway, cool wind in my hair, warm smell of colitas, rising up through the air...
This part of the lyrics of the song "Hotel California", by the Eagles, brought on curiosity about the word, as the bigger quest for understanding the entire song itself has met with as many "ideas" as to its meaning... but...

The word "colitas" means literally, "Little Tails", thus use of the slang, "colitas", (as referenced in the song) meaning the burning of little marijuana 'tails/buds'.

NOTES:
Literal Meaning is "little tails"
Slang meanings as follows...
1. End buds of the marijuana plant.
2. Has been used to reference a part of the female anatomy, (use your imagination)
3. A person's butt.
Reference material for my definition was confirmed from Eagles management, as follows:
Irving Azoff a manager for the group: during the writing of the song 'Hotel California' by Messrs. Henley and Frey, the word `colitas' was translated for them by their Mexican-American road manager as 'little buds.
1. warm smell of colitas rising up through the air.
2. She has a hot colita.
3. Get your colita over here.

Colegasm

Colegasm refers to the explosion of semen, blood, and flesh uttered from the male reproductive system after ejaculation. In order for one to reach "Colegasm" stage, one must first use acupuncture in the foreskin of the penis via needles. Then one's partner must tie a sturdy know on the trunk of the penis to cut off all blood flow, creating pressure and colors such as variations of blue or purple. The partner then finishes the job via oral sex or other acts of intamacy until one is in the need of ejaculation. When in the course of ejaculation, semen builds up in the penis adding immense pressure. The last needed step is for the parter to strike down, with either foot or tool, on the blood riddled penis. The explosion that occurs has the force of a five pound plastic explosive. The partner may want to stand over twenty feet away to avoid flying pieces of flesh. Then one knows he has achieved a "Colegasm". This experience is noted as quite pleasuring and satisfying, yet may have harmful results.

Featured in the song "Hotel California" by The Eagles, Colitas have been repeatedly defined by Don Henley and Don Felder as "desert flowers", the Colita de Rata, or Wild Buckwheat.

A perennial up to one foot 30.5 cm tall, favoring dry rocky slopes, Wild buckwheat has a basal whorl of grayish spoon-shaped leaves. Creamy white flowers form in clusters on the stem.

Colitas: A type of sage (plant) indigenous to the desert southwest of North America. Other common names, Antelope Sage, James' buckwheat, horticultural name "Eriogonum jamesii". This is NOT a form of canaabus.
When warmed by the desert sun colitas releases a pleasant odor that is considered by locals to be uniquely American. The use of the name in the lyrics of Eagles song Hotel California is a reference to a feeling that is uniquely American and to a fatigue that is common to residents of the desert southwest.
