43. blink 182
A very misunderstood band. Most punks refer to them as "too poppy" or "g@y @$$ sh!T sellouts". While in reality, Blink 182 started out as a very punk band. They were inspired by bands such as NOFX the Descendents, The Vandals, and Bad Religion, covering a NOFX song in their very first EP (flyswatter), and even inviting Bad Religion to open for them, which Bad Religion accepted. The vandals also produced Blink 182's first full length album, Buddha. Blink 182 separates itself from other punk pop bands, and has true respect for their punk roots. (Singer Tom Delonge collaborated with Rancid's Tim Armstrong in a side project). While Blink's music may be more popular or poppy than other punk bands, they still have the spirit and punk background that lets us label them as PUNK-Pop. A little too poppy to be called punk, but a type of punk nonetheless. A band that has played with Bad Religion, covered NOFX, collaborated with Rancid, and worked with the vandals can't be too far from punk now, can it?
Blink 182 are more punk than you think.

2. BLINK 182
A pop punk band formed in 1992 by guitarist Tom Delonge and bassist Mark Hoppus. First drummer was Scott Raynor. Formally known as Blink, they had to change their name to avoid a lawsuit from an Irish band with the same name.

Later on in 1997, Scott decided to leave the band to pursue his education, so new drummer Travis Barker joined. Since then, they have come out with 6 LPs. In 2005, the band took a break to spend more time with their families.
Blink 182 was Sally's favorite band.

3. blink 182
One of the best punk pop bands.....ever. With Mark Hoppus on bass and vocals, Tom Delonge on guitar and vocals and Travis Barker on drums. Plus they like running around naked in their videos. And Tom Delonge is the best thing since sliced bread.

I hate every single person who says Blink 182 sucks.
Because, they don't you've probably only heard their newer stuff which isn't half as good as their old fast-pased filled with punk riffs.

The band blink 182 was formed by two friends, Mark Hoppus and Tom Delonge, who met when Tom was dating Marks younger sister Anne. When Anne told Mark that her boyfriend played guitar, the two decided to play in Tom's garage one day afterschool. That first day they started working on the song "Carosuel" which appeared on their second demo and first album. After awhile, the band realized they would need a drummer, they found local thirteen year old Scott Raynor. They trio then recorded "Flyswatter" and "Buddha" later re-releaserd in 1998. After this took place an Irish techno band said they would confirm lawsuit if the band wouldn't change their name. The band decided on Blink 182. No one really knows why they chose "182" but some various reasons are: They are the numbers that symbolize suicide, the amount of times Mark had beaten off, how many freckles Tom Had...etc.
The band was then signed to Grilled Cheese Records, since they had one a bet that they would sell over 150 copies of their 2nd demo. The cd had most of the bands songs from "Buddha" and a few extras and a few of the songs were re-done and added stuff.
The band then recorded Dude Ranc...

ok they're not pop punk. punk is sex pistols (to be overly obvious) or the distillers or the specials or ramones or whatever. punk is pretty much dead. there is still punk music, but the era is over and so are the people. even if you truly are punk you wouldn't label yourself. why bother? i wouldnt say blink were posers, they know who they are but it reeli pisses me off when ppl say htey are anything to do wiht punk. yes, they have giutars, voices, fans but theyre not punk. theyre pop rock. and the genre doesnt really matter anyways if you really like the music
person: i love blink 182 ther so hardcore
