24. scene
According to all of you haters, scene is nothing more then conformists who cant think for themselves. Although there may be some scene kids who are in it for acceptance. Others are in it to be with people that may have similar thoughts and style. By Saying that all scene kids are the same, youre stereotyping. Some kids join the scene because they actually like the style, music, and ideas that the scene stand for. Its true that some are in it for the wrong reasons, but these definitions are an insult, and any of you who have the audacity to catagorize kids based on what they like, take a look at yourself, your style, your ideas, and its garunteed that there is something out there EXACTLY like you. Now, do you think of yourself as a poser or conformist?

27. hxc dancing
Hardcore dancing is a form of mosh (or slam dancing), an activity performed in a mosh pit at hardcore music shows. Generally the dancing is done to certain visceral parts of hardcore songs specially written to make the audience move around. Common names for these parts are "breakdowns", "beatdowns", "throwdowns" and "two-steps." Some common derogative terms for said dance are "Ninja Dancing" (named because the dancers look like they are fighting invisible Ninja), "Karate Dancing", and "Straight-edge Ballet".

The practice grew mostly out of the East Coast hardcore scene, especially in New York City. Besides the usual mosh pit routine of pogoing and crashing into each other, participants enjoyed floorpunching to the beat when a slower, more groovy riff was being played. During shows by bands like Gorilla Biscuits, Edgewise, Agnostic Front, Sheer Terror, Killing Time, and The Horror Novel. this style of dancing was common. In the following years as bands incorporated slower syncopated, metallic rhythms into their songs, the modern "breakdown" and the dancing that went with it was introduced. Sometimes called "kickbox moshing" by its detractors, hardcore dancing now included violent windmills with the arms, karate style spinkicks, and "crowd-beating", the act of simply tackling a group of non dancing onlookers, sometimes into the wall. Early Earth Crisis and Biohazard shows were extremely common areas for such activity.

The two-step is also common in hardcore dancing. It...

28. Salvia Divinorum
A plant with an increasing popularity and infamy due to its legality, potency, and the Internet. The strong effects are due to the primary psychoactive component, salvinorin A, the most potent naturally-occurring hallucinogen. The plant also contains salvinorin B-F.

The plant was traditionally used as an entheogen by Mazatec shamans, where it was grown in the mountains of Oaxaca, Mexico. The plant rarely produces seeds, instead it is propagated by cuttings. It can adjust to many different climates, but it naturally grows in sandy, rocky soil with partial sunlight and hot, humid weather.

There are many ways to administer the drug. Traditional methods include making a tea or chewing leaves in the mouth. The tea method uses many more leaves because of the inefficiency of absorbing the active compounds through the gastrointestinal tract. Fresh or rehydrated dried leaves can be formed into a ball (quid) and chewed slowly in the mouth, allowing the drug to be absorbed sublingually by holding the salvia in the mouth. Due to the unpleasant and bitter taste, some people use a small amount of concentrated tincture held in the mouth.

Smoking has become quite popular among non-traditionalists. However the plain leaves often aren't strong enough to produce the desired effects, so prepared extracts are available in various concentrations (5x, 10x, 20x). Ideally a bong and torch lighter applied directly are used for smoking to ensure an adequate temperature and large intake of s...
