Someone labelled as a preppy (or preppie) is usually a youth, most likely middle-class or above, who wears brand-name clothes like Abercrombie & Fitch, listens to the popular music, hangs with the popular people, does reasonably well in school, and fits in well. There are many traits that people would call preppy, such as wearing polo shirts with the collar popped. The word evolved from the term, "Yuppie," which stood for, "Young Urban Professional." Some Preppies are children of Yuppies. While this of course can't be said for all people labelled, "Preppy," they are often critized for their excessive consumerism and conformity. While usually not rude to less popular kids, they tend to exclude. Some might thoerize that, from a psychological point of view, they rely on the latest clothes, music, and sometimes cars for self-esteem and that they use these items to define themselves and find meaning in their lives. But despite the time, money, and effort they spend to enhance their personal appearance and stand out among their peers, in the end they often seem indifferent to each other. Past their clean exteriors, it isn't unknown for them to be heavy users of drugs and alchohol, and to have permiscuous sex; But this doesn't in any way mean that all of them, or even most of them, are like this. |

| 5. | Crass | ||
|
An anarchist punk band, formed in 1977 in England, whose most famous member was vocalist Steve Ignorant. They took their name from the David Bowie song, "Ziggy Stardust." more...
Their political beliefs can be best described as libertarian socialist or anarchist, themes that were extremely frequent in their lyrics. The members of Crass were also vehement opponents of war and supported peace, which is seen in a considerable amount of the band's graffiti. Other frequent issues in their lyrics were, including but not limited to: criticizing organized religion, feminism, and anti-consumerism. Crass' original label refused to include the controversial track, "Reality Asylum," on their debut album, entitled The Feeding of the 5000. Although the label released the album without this track and replaced it with two minutes of silence, Crass later re-released the album on their own label (Crass Records) and included the track. Virtually no live footage of Crass exists. They refused to use any stage lighting besides 40-watt household bulbs. In one story, a camera man asked the band if they would use 60-watt bulbs instead, so that he could film him. The band refused. Crass disbanded in 1984, after releasing their fifth and final album. Today, many punk bands attempt to duplicate the ideals of Crass, mainly in their political views, but none have succeeded, and it is very unlikely that any band ever will. |

|
A multi-national corporation with sales based solely on food, specificaly: burgers and fries, although more recent expansions have included salads and wraps. (there was also a short stint where pizza was available)
It is related to images of unhealth, laziness, and a lack of social responsibility. McDonalds stands as a representative symbol for one extreme of a dichotomized world: consumerist capitalism vs. anti-establishment non-consumerism. McDonald is inextricably linked to the united states and wesern culture. etimology: Mc means "son if" in old gaelic - i.e. Mclean means 'son of clean'. and McDonald means 'son of donald' as in son of Donald Rumsfield. And, yes, He's a clown just like his father. 1.prof. Markus Johnson the millionaire owns stocks and eats at McDonald regularly, while juan cannot afford nor owns any stock in McDonalds.
