abstination

Abstination:
Not a real word in any language. A composite of Abstinence and the suffix -tion.
-tion is used to make a noun an action or process. It may also be used to mean result or consequence.
Abstain is to refrain from something by one's own choice
Abstinence is the act of... implying the practice of refraining from indulging or desire, action on the noun abstain.
This means that the -tion suffix has been miss-applied to a noun when there is a correct version of which is already a defined word.
First use was by the religious right in a Moral Majority news letter.
This would bring us to another word:
Ignorance: The lack of knowledge, information or education by choice; a state of ignorance.
Logical conclusion: The moral majority was created by god during the period of "Intelligent Design" and gave them the ability to choose ignorance.

activation fee

A price generally attached to a prepaid credit card for the purpose of "activating" the credit card. There is no true reason for this fee, other than having innocent consumers pay extra.
Oh look! Those money hungry pigs working at Mastercard and Visa have attached an activation fee to their prepaid credit card products.

Product Activation

Product Activation is supposed to prevent piracy and freinds from copying or borrowing software, but it's an annoying and completly worthless feature of Windows XP, TurboTax, Norton Anti-Virus and many other programs and games that forces users to call the company and register to be able to run it after you install it.

If you change hardware (such as a video card or hard drive) on a Windows XP computer many times, XP will force you to call Microsoft to register the OS again. It also unfairly forces users to buy 2 or more copies for each computer you own. The best thing is complain to the company and tell them you will not buy thier products anymore. Dont support companies that force product activation.
I couldnt run TurboTax this weekend because I had to call an 1-800 number for Product Activation - and the office was closed until monday morning!
