Please be advised

A meaningless phrase that prefaces relevant information. It is basically unnecessary if not redundant, as one is engaged in the very act of “advising” when issuing a warning, imparting knowledge, or giving advice. “Please be advised” is used excessively by people in law enforcement and sometimes by those who became serious about life at a very late age, and now maintain blogs that purport to warn the public about what is largely one-sided, uninteresting crap.
Ryan: Officer Murphy, please be advised that our suspect is driving a Jeep.

Murphy: Ryan, the fact that you’re advising me is understood in the information you have just given to me. Saying “please be advised” is an unnecessary redundancy that pollutes our radio communication.

Ryan: Ten-four.

Viewer discretion is advised

The modern-day version of the "ladies and children not admitted" pre-performance advisory-message used by The King and The Duke to lure a larger audience to come and see their pathetically-mediocre shenanigans.
Nobody will ever admit it officially/publicly, of course, but everyone secretly knows that posting da "Viewer discretion is advised" cliché actually has da exact opposite effect for most people --- it makes them all da miore fired up to watch said media! And then of course after it's all over, like as not da viewers bewilderedly glance at each other and say, "That's ALL?! They considered THAT to be too "mature" for younger folks?!?? Why, that wasn't even as bad as da stuff they show middle-school kind in da couyrse of their lessons on history, social studies, science, chemistry, and stuff! Zheeeeesh.... da producers musta given it that rating just to lure people to watch their insipid mundane crap!"
Getting savagely drunk.
I proceeded to get advised as soon as we entered the bar.

advicefly

A person who flits from one source of advice to another, not to genuinely weigh different perspectives, but to collect opinions until they find one that aligns with their preexisting beliefs. Like a butterfly sampling flowers, they appear open to new ideas but are really just seeking validation. If they don’t hear what they want, they proceed with their original plan anyway.
Paola asked everyone if riding her motorcycle late at night in the freezing cold was a bad idea. She nodded at their warnings, shivered at the thought, even said, ‘Yeah, you’re right’—then immediately grabbed her keys and rode off like a human popsicle in the making

Sarah asked ten people if she should text her ex. Nine said no, one said yes. Guess what she did? Total advicefly move.

Emma played the advicefly game perfectly—asking around for opinions on moving abroad but only listening to the one friend who hyped her up

Tom, being the advicefly he is, bounced between therapists until one finally told him he was in the right all along.

Advicefly

A person who actively seeks advice from multiple sources—not necessarily for validation, but out of a deep-seated need to gather perspectives before inevitably following their original plan. Like a butterfly sampling flowers, they genuinely engage with different viewpoints, but their course of action was set before they even started asking. Whether they’re searching for reassurance, new insights, or just enjoying the process of hearing different takes, the result remains the same: in the end, they’ll do what they intended all along.
"Snow, the advicefly that he is, spent a week asking everyone if quitting his office job to become a DJ was a good idea. He listened, took notes, genuinely considered their input—then handed in his resignation and dropped a mix called ‘Two Weeks’ Notice (Extended Remix)!"

"Landa asked everyone if riding her motorcycle late at night in the freezing cold was a bad idea. Ever the advicefly, she listened, nodded at their concerns, even admitted it sounded risky—then zipped up her jacket and rode off like a popsicle with a death wish."

"Samantha, the ultimate advicefly, asked everyone if she should dye her hair bright green. She listened to all the ‘maybe nots’ and ‘are you sure?’—then waltzed into the salon aiming for Abby Sciuto’s edgy look, but came out looking more like a glow stick at the end of a rave. Guess real life doesn’t come with a stylist."
