Requiem For A Dream is quite possibly the most brilliant movie ever made. Based on the 1978 novel by Hubert Selby. I'm in no way belittling the book, as it was also wonderfully done, but this is the only movie I've ever seen that bested the novel before it.

The film depicts different forms of addiction, leading to the characters' imprisonment in a dream world of delusion and reckless desperation, which is then overtaken and devastated by reality.

Starring: Ellen Burstyn, Jared Leto, Jennifer Connelly, and Marlon Wayans. Burstyn was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress in 2000 for her role.

Ryan Gosling was born on November 12, 1980 in London.Ryan first performed as a singer at talent contests with his older sister Mandi. He attended an open audition in Montreal for the TV series "The Mickey Mouse Club" ("MMC" (1989)) in January 1993, and beat out 17,000 other aspiring actors for a a spot on the show. While appearing on "MMC" for two years, he lived with co-star Justin Timberlake's family.

Though he has received no formal acting training, after "Mickey Mouse", Gosling segued into an acting career, appearing on the TV series "Young Hercules" and "Breaker High", as well as the films "The Slaughter Rule", "Murder by Numbers", and "Remember the Titans". He first attracted serious critical attention with his performance as the Jewish anti-Semite in the controversial film _ Believer, The (2001), which won the Grand Jury Prize winner at the 2001 Sundance Film Festival. Elliott Smith was one of the greatest singer/songwriters ever. Elliott was from portland. He was not folk, even though he played acroustic He came out with his 1st solo album, Roman Candle, in 1994. He was nominated for an academy award for his work in Good Will Hunting,but lost to Celine Dion. Most people believed he comitted suicide, but I'm convinced his girlfriend killed him. I mean, seriously, who spells their name wrong on their suicide note? Some people think his songs are depressing, but I don't think so. Anyway, Elliott Smith is an artist much missed.
