The Irish mob in Boston, but originated in Somerville, MA. Became dominant in the 1960s during the Irish mob wars that left over sixty micks dead and gang founder Howie Winter in jail. The mob's most famous leader was Whitey Bulger, who fed the FBI information to keep them off his back and had an uneasy alliance with the Italian mafia in Boston's North End. The mob fell into disarray after Whitey Bulger went on the run from the FBI in the 90s.
