A private institution located in Southern California. Has an intense rivalry with UCLA. Although UCLA people like to diss on USC for costing 3x as much, they are ignorant of the fact that USC provides excellent financial aid, unlike public UCLA which doesn't have any money due to the economy. Not only that, UCLA just raised their fees for next year. How's public school going? Funny how I have to pay hardly anything because of great financial aid to go to USC while UCLA didn't give me crap.

The truth is that UCLA and USC are both good schools. There are good people and pricks at each school. The rivalry between the two breeds hatred in certain people on both sides. I'm a UCLA student, but I respect USC.
It's cool that we compete in everything, but it should be a friendly rivalry. This hatred is just not needed. The fact that LA can house two prestigious universities like UCLA and USC is amazing. We're all smart people at UCLA and USC. Let's act like it.

The University of Southern California is a world-class leading research university located in downtown Los Angeles. It has the nation's best film school and its communication, engineering, and business school are all in the top 10.
Both USC and UCLA are very good schools, anyone who needs to trash talk the other to make theirs sound better is just foolish. There are some challenging and some not so challenging professors at USC. But the same goes for UCLA. I've sat in on classes at both institutions.

A really costly school in the pits of LA. Really prestigious if based entirely on the fact that it costs a lot of money. Also, lots of beautiful and rich women with boobjobs.
Academically, a small joke. Class difficulty seems to be on par with the Community College level. When I audited some classes there, it appears my lower division classes at UCSC (Notice the extra "C") were more difficult than the upper divison classes there. Anyways, the beer at the football games is too expensive and the cheerleaders are butterfaces. Also, when people do that pumping Trojan "V for Victory" salute... from a distance... looks oddly like a field of people giving a fascist salute. Coincidence? Maybe, just maybe... Dude, the whole stadium's doing a "Heil Hitler"!!

see ripoff
When it comes to colleges, being private usually means being better. This is not the case when it comes to USC, which has lower academic rankings in comparison to both UCLA and Cal. With USC, being private simply means that it costs more. Some people call USC the "university of spoiled children." This is wrong. USC students are ripped off. In comparison, UCLA students pay a fraction of the price USC charges and they get to go to a school with better academic rankings with better faculty in a much better neighborhood. Who's spoiled again? UCLA students are. I feel sorry for Trojans. I really do. I hope you can find a way to justify USC stealing all that money from you. Unless you want to play football, go to UCLA. Don't fall victim to the ripoff machine at USC. It will just make you bitter and delusional.
