Sol is a G2-type main sequence star located in a minor arm of the Milky Way galaxy called the Orion Spur.
It is orbited by nine planets; Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto and is believed to be surrounded by a vast sphere of comets called the Oort Cloud. Sol has a mass 332,830 times that of our planet and has an equatorial radius of 695,000 kilometres. It's surface temperature is 6,000 degrees celsius and it as roughly 4.5 billion years old. Sol is more commonly referred to as 'The Sun'
