| 1. | Shaghayegh | ||
|
It means "poppy" in Farsi. It is a beautiful name in Farsi though is absolutely butchered in the English dialect.
Properly, it is pronounced: SHAAH-GHUH-YEGH. Once realising that Americans cannot pronounce this if their life depended on it, most Shaghayeghs change their name to names such as Shelly, Sherry, Shania, Shay, Sharon etc... American: "Hi Shaglayeglayehg, am I prounouncing it right?"
Shaghayegh: "no it's Shaghayegh" American: "Shaghluyeyguheah?" Shaghayegh: ".......................................yeah that's it." |
