"Scene" is a sort of subgenre, a mixture of emo and preppy. You can usually spot a scene kid from miles away by their bright, attractive eyeliner/hair colors. Scene boys and scene girls both wear tight girl jeans; usually of the drainpipe variety. Scene girls are often found in attractively arranged if not totally random outfits, which consist of tight jeans, cute tee shirts or thermals with things like hello kitty, the teenage mutant ninja turtles, or power rangers on them. Vans slip ons, usually checkered, make up the majority of their footwear, as well as ballet flats, and just plain flats. Occasionally, wedges, too. Their outfits vary from person to person; vintage sweaters and vests are also popular, as well as tight, gray or black zip up hoodies. And band tee shirts are a must, mostly for metal bands, however, with incomprehensible writing on them and some drawing of a person being eviscerated, and the like. White studded belts are also popular. They also wear large, chunky necklaces, pearls, et cetera.

For boys, it's pretty much the same, however, instead of flats, they're inclined to wear skate shoes, and large "gangster" hats are popular as well. Both genders tend to have lots of piercings, such as a septum, monroe, and the less popular septum. Mostly, they've got a piercing on one side of their lip, and gauges in their ears. Scene boys hair is more often a plain color, such as black or red or brown, as opposed to the myriad of colors that girls can covet. Both usually possess choppy, over-one-eye hairstyles, though they sometimes have mod bangs, too.

Boys can wear eyeliner, though it isnt as encouraged as it is in the emo culture, and girls wear as much or as little as they please. Scene girls are also pretty obsessed with designer labels, such as Chanel and Dolce & Gabanna. Also, both can be seen wearing clothes from stores such as Hollister and Abercrombie. Sidekick 3's are very often used by scene kids. Scene boys are usually a lot less nice than scene girls, though, obviously, it depends on the person. Straight edge is becoming less and less trendy, though a lot of scenesters still are. Christianity and vegetarianism are both pretty trendy, however.

Emo kids and scene kids are completely different, and are not to be confused. Scene kids are more into the 'local scene,' and to the majority of them, music means everything. They'll always be spotted at local shows, concerts, coffeeshops, etc. Scene girls are usually obsessed with fashion, and fashion magazines (i.e. Vogue, and Teen Vogue). Fake eyelashes are also highly associated with scene girls, and they often shave off their eyebrows and pencil them on. Why, you ask? Nobody knows. False nails, and being extremely pale are pretty scene as well. Also, scene kids will always, always, always deny that they are scene. That's one of the many ways you can spot a poseur. After all, real scene kids are too scene to admit that they're scene.

Energy drinks are also highly popular with them, as well as Glaceau Vitamin Water. They also are prone to saying things such as "wdup blud," and "lawlz." Pretending to be a gangster is a big part of the scene image, and many scene kids even listen to rap. But it doesn't make them any less scene! Scene kids always have a myspace, or a xanga, or a facebook, or all three, as well. Their myspace display names are usually something along the lines of "______ Murder," "______ Homicide," etc, etc, though it varies with the person.

Myspace pages of theirs are often filled with songs that used to be popular, (i.e. Tainted Love, All the Small Things, and old rap songs-- you get the picture) and numerous photographs of their favorite designer logo, their alcoholic beverage of choice, and their cell phone. Hello Kitty is also highly popular with girls, as well as coloring books, black and white photographs, and a cityscape photograph. For boys, they often have pictures of admiring scene girls who make them signs, banners for bands that they like, and an energy drink they love.

in conclusion, scene kids r rad! lolz.
Morgen Murder: wdup brah?
Catherine Catalyst: nadaaa grrrl. sup @ you?
Tony Terror: hey grrrlz!
Morgen Murder: omfg, he is soo hawt. lawlz.
Catherine Catalyst: I KNOW! LOL!
Tony Terror: yaaaa baby. r u going to the show tonight? it should be hella tuff.
Catherine Catalyst: like duh!!!! <3333<33
Morgen Murder: lol, what a scene kid!
Catherine Catalyst: IK! but he is too scene to admit it!

Topic to cause drama on UD.

Random person posts long diatribe that basically amounts to
"Sene kidz r ghey lOL"

Scenekid posts response: "We're not all assholes, but...yadda yadda... maybe you're just jealous". This should be read as "I'll feign indignance and keep up my holier-than-thou attitude to look cool on LOL_THE_INTERNET."

The real truth is that arrogance, ignorance, prejudce, elitism, and ageism (scene KID?) are all horrible things that both parties are guilty of.

This topic is it's own example of how user-defined term "scene kids" caused drama on itself on ur.. fucking TIME PARADOX

Scene kids, like everyone else, follow trends.
Most of the stuff people say is true and most of the 'scene' kids admit they try to be scene.
They may go out and buy hundreds of dollars worth of clothes just to look scene.
Most scene kids shop at Hot Topic, Delia*s, and Journeys.
I see lots of scene kids every day, and this is usually what they have and how they look..

Scene girl must-haves:
-short,layered haircut
-extentions (in case a guy hates short hair)
-black and light blonde hair
-black chipped nail polish
-bright colored bows
-clothes with stars/hearts on them
-fur trimmed jacket
-tight,destroyed designer jeans
-other scene chick friends
-hot scene boyfriend
-iPod
-skimmers AKA doll shoes
-white studded belt hanging off the hips
-monroe ring
-flashy earrings
-mispell their name on myspace. IE: Susie - Siouxsie

Scene boy must-haves:
-extremely choppy haircut
-black colored hair with blond or red
-tightly fitting shirts
-black or white studded belt
-tight jeans with boxers pulled up too high
-bandana in the back pocket
-lip ring/snake bites
-vans shoes

In addition, they all have to go to lots and lots of local shows and hang out in their little cliques when they go. Most of the guys hardcore dance, or atleast attempt and get made fun of. They also must have more than 1000 myspace friends to be considered 'cool.'
Siouxsie: Are you going to the show tonight, Timmeigh?
Timmy: Of course, all the scene kids will be there.

the ever popular "scene kid".
go on myspace and you will get real life examples of a countless amount. with enough pictures for your mind to blur with the same repetitive images of bad hair, horrible photography (that they perceive to be "artistic") taken from horrible angles, ugly hair clips, anorexic boys, fake girls, tight pants, and wayyy too much eyeliner.
scene kids can usually be found at the local mall, spending their rich white parents' money on things that are ever-so-"kewl" at the moment and will make them all the more hxc. they also flock to shows and concerts like a black person to a pack of menthols.
scene kids are under the impression that they are way cooler and better than anyone who is not "with the scene". the boys enjoy kissing each other for attention. the girls enjoy giving the attention. the boys whine too much, but then again.. so do the girls.
they use slang such as "kthx" "rawr" and other unoriginal lingo that i don't care enough to elaborate on. they find it amusing to poo-poo anything not in the scene. they find it ABSOLUTELY hilarious to make fun of anything ghetto/rap/gang related.
scene kids will do anything to fit in. they pretend not to care, even though we all know how much time they spend fixing their multicolored hair.
some advice for the scene kids; boys- eat something, stop wearing makeup, and PLEASE stop shopping in the girl's department. girls- suck up your insecurities, lay the concert tees to rest, and get a hair color that actually suits you.
"wow. i'm going to be a kewl scene kid, say i'm original and impersonate every other god damn unoriginal teenager on the god forsaken website called myspace and take a shit load of pictures of myself and my hair with my expensive digital camera! don't you <3 my hxc hairband and all new tight pants? kthx. weRd."

this is a note of clarity following the other "definitions"

its not becoming of a person to insult another based on silly "definitions" proposed by some small minded people.
some people take this way too seriously

They all have big noses. They try to dress to stand out of the crowd. They all deny they are scene kids, just to apparently not look like a poser but they all are because they're insecure and uncertain. they have dead dyed hair and have to straighten their hair all the time. Sometimes the chicks curl it but only occasionally. Popular key terms that are familiar that come with this scene kid includes but not limited:
side kick, hair bow clips, flashy jewelry, salon done nails (for the higher stuck up scene chicks) slick straight hair, greasy hair (for the trashy trashy scene kids), messed up teeth(for the insecure high colored dressed scene kids) BIG OR ODD ODD ODD NOSES, maybe a small poor puppy (stuck up scene again), teased hair, hello kitty, eye lashes, thick eye shadow, thick eye liner, rainbow colors, stupid sayings that are random and make no sense (again, for attention so someone can think they're actually unique and original, but actually pathetic) flats, boots, high heels, plaid, gay emo screaming music, poppy music, drives VW Beetle, all about peace and war, pale, smokes, no future, says they're going to be a psychologist or a cosmetologist, wants revenge on ex's. secretly likes twilight, whores, man whores, gay, lesbian/bi, EXTENSIONS, has a new piercing every week and decides to grow it back in, pierce it again, hip piercings that look meaningless...
OMZOMGZ FER SURE ITS 2011 AND I STILL SAY GROATY! I'M A SCENE KID AND SO HOT AND HAVE TONS OF FRIENDS AND MY EX IS A TOOL BAG THAT BROKE UP WITH ME BC I'M CRAZY!

their first name is never Matt. they paint they're pants on. they usually have gauges in their ears the size of plates. they like to listen to screaming hardcore music. they also like to wear bands shirts. sometimes they are homosexual. you will often find a scene kid roaming around in odd places, like video game arcades and bathrooms. (most are seen taking pictures of themselves in public bathroom mirrors with cute little notes written on their hand, and they never smile)

A scene kid is a kid who dresses in bright colors and does a lot of annoying shit with their hair in order to fit in and look cool. They also listen to horrible, obnoxious music, and tend to think they're better than everyone else; not to mention they love attention and... "making a scene." They try their hardest to be a scenester, but inevitably fail.
"Hey guys! How about we come back here tomorrow with our hair standing up as high as it'll go and just stand here looking cool while listening to the best music EVER, like Brokencyde and Attack Attack! We're sure to make a scene that way! After all, we ARE scene kids."
