A day for all of ireland to get pissed
It's Saint Patrick's Day, time for a drink
word of the day: March 17, 2008
Bill Lumbergh: "Yeah, and I'd like to remind you that tomorrow is St. Patrick's Day, so if you'd like to, you can go ahead and come to work...uh...shit-faced. Yeah, that'd be greeaat."
St Patrick's day is held on March 17th.
It is the date that Saint Patrick died. Saint Patrick is the man who is said to have introduced the catholic religion to Ireland. He tried to explain "the trinity" (3 people in the one god) with a three leafed plant called a shamrock. Hence the shamrock has significance for the day. Originally the day was important only in Ireland but because of the large numbers of Irish people who emigrated abroad and the colorfulness of the celebration the tradition spread around the world.
In Ireland St. Patrick's day is celebrated with a parade of floats, bands and marchers in each towns main street. Unfortunately because of the time of the year it invariably rains on the day.
one of the better holidays, where people who aren't even irish
pretend to be, and everyone gets drunk
On Saint Patrick's Day, we all wore green hats and drank whiskey
A wonderful reason to get completely shitfaced before noon, then take a nap, and do it again that evening. Celebrated heavily from the midwest to east coast by everyone, not just exclusively Irish folks. In the Chicagoland are, Saint Patricks Day is nearly a weeklong celebration of booze and parades.
Mister Delicious is lucky as hell. His birthday is on Saint Patricks Day.
two days after the Ides of March
this Holiday is a.k.a. the "Wearin o' the Green" day.
It's a day for parades that celebrate Ireland or being of Irish heritage.
Some pubs dye ther beer or anything else green with food coloring. It is too bad because Certain foods, like eggs, when dyed green, look incredibly puke-inducing.
see cinco de mayo
tastes good, (hiccup) let's just hope Erin goes bra-less!
The only day of the year where everyone is Irish
1. I'm Irish
2. No your not. You look Filipino as anything
1. Didn't you hear? Today's saint patricks day!
2. Well that means I'm Irish too! Let's go drink our brains out
An incredibly annoying time when Americans forget that they're American and run around trying desperately to out-Irish each other with needlessly gaudy green clothing exacerbated by their all-too-often overweight frames. This time is made all the worse by the perceived need to drink as much imitation Guiness, vomit on aforementioned green clothing then try to kiss strangers and get punched for your trouble.
"Kiss me, I'm Irish and it's Saint Patrick's Day". "You're still fat and ugly, so the answer's still No".
