Stands for Scholastic Assessment Test. This test is required by most colleges, though some will accept the ACT instead. The SAT has come under much controversy, especially because so much weight is put on how well a student does on a single test. Many opponents of the exam have said that many students are creative, but cannot perform well on standardized tests. Also, it is now popularly believed that wealthy students can "buy" their SAT score. Many hire the best programs and tutors that money can afford to get high scores. As a result, there is a notable difference between races and social classes in their SAT scores.

However, the SAT was revised as of 2005. Previously, the Math and Verbal SAT were on a scale of 800 (the scale starts at 200) separately, people often stated their score out of 1600, adding together both scores. The new SAT has many changes. Firstly, it has three catagories: Math, Critical Reading, and Writing, and therefore ones' total score would be out of 2400 rather than 1600. Also, the infamous analogies, a section that was particularly dreaded by high school juniors and seniors, have been removed. Finally, components of the SAT II: Writing have been combined, including the 25 minute essay. This section has been criticized as well, especially because only two graders read it once (Each grades on a scale of 0-6, and those two numbers are added together).

The SAT is resented by many students and in recent years the ACT has become more popular, because of its more straight-forward testing approach. However, at the moment the SAT is still needed to apply to many colleges.
The SAT is a test that many people feel to be an unfair way to judge the worth of a student.

Just big fucking bullshit that you have to take in high school. This is meant for colleges such as USC, Stanford, UC or Ivy League schools to judge how smart or dumb you are. Whats the point about it when you have class grades? So fuck it cause it wastes time and thinking.
Teacher: Alright class get prepared for the SAT class coming next week.
Classmate: Yeah, well if we don't do well on the dumb ass exam we can always go to community college.

"Standardised Asswipe Test". It is based out of 1600 or 2400 points depending on which version test you take. Let's break this down:
-You will be rigidly timed so that students who are good at working quickly will have an advantage over you. Sections are generally timed between 18 and 25 minutes.
-Math: Generally fair with tutoring, without it, you are expected to know every last element of mathematics you've learned in the past 11 years with some criteria you have never seen before.
-English: No matter how adept you are in English, you will be bombarded with hundreds of words ranging from 20 to 35 letters with which you have never seen. You will also need to answer pointless and challenging questions on the driest articles they could find.
WORDS TO DESCRIBE THE SAT: Unfair, bullshit, biased.
I've been tutored for months and I still don't understand any of it...whoever made the SAT should be gutted.

#1 source of stress high school students are dealing with
College student: What's wrong?
High school student: SATs are getting on my nerves, it's impossible to study for it and it's tomorrow!
College student: I'm glad that this crap is over!

A standarized test taken by high school juniors and seniors. It is the most important test that is also the least important, because while high scores are essential to get into college, it shows nothing about your intelligence, learning ability, or worth as a person.
I just bought 132480134 so I can study for the SAT.

After the SAT I will be an expert at filling in circles.

Look! I'm smarter than Joe Bloggs at the SAT
