A Norwegian progressive metal band from Skien, Norway formed in 2000.
The kings of progressive metal, way better than all of the mainstream shit yet hardly anyone knows about them. These guys deserve to be famous. Don't get me wrong, Dream Theater are phenomenal and I totally admire the fact that they basically started the prog metal genre, but Pagan's Mind write some of the most beautiful and kick-ass songs in the world and they have extremely talented members. They actually sound a lot like Dream Theater and DT are one of the bands that influenced them. For all you pop, R'n'B and dubstep lovers out there, I know what you're thinking. "ERRRRRR PAGAN'S MIND? ARE THEY LIKE SCRUFFY PAGAN'S OR SOMETHING? THEIR SONGS MUST BE WELL DEPRESSING IF THEY'RE FROM A METAL GENRE!!!!!!" NO, NO, NO, NO and I repeat: NO. They are not scruffy pagans. They are 5 respectful men living normal lives but with extraordinary talents and they know how to rock the fuck out yet they still add exquisite keyboard melodies which make their music magical. And their music is not depressing either. Take the song "United Alliance" for example. What an uplifting song. If anyone says that it's depressing or "emo" or "goth" music, gtfo and die. Prog metal is melodic and tuneful yet still kick-ass. And Pagan's Mind portrays prog metal just how it should be portrayed. Nils, Jorn, Steinar, Stian and Ronny, you guys are inspirational. ENNNNNNNDLESS, OUR DREAMS CARRY ONNNNN, ALL TRACES IN TIME, UNIIIIIIITEEEEEED!
TEARS IN OUR EYES, ESCAPING THE NIGHT, THROUGH THE EYES OF THE LIGHT, CARRY ONNNNNNNNNNN! Person 1: Erm, how depressing is Pagan's Mind? Me: lolwut? |
