People who use role playing to escape from their problems, taking on otherkin personas as a cry for help from the masses.

They seek to employ attention whoring as a cry for help from other people.

They wish to be seen, loved and appreciated online because in real life they know they are invisible to the world and no one cares about cowards who cannot deal with their problems in a healthy way!

They say they are here to heal others but they are the ones really in need of healing...how can they solve other people's problems if they cannot even work through their own shit?

Otherkin identify as NON-human personalities only to just not look at their own fucked up human condition that needs real healing!
Otherkin: "hi I am an angel, I am here to solve all your problems, currently I am going through a divorce and struggle for custody over my own child while I struggle with an unfaithful husband!"

Me: "uhhm if you are an angel of love and light why did you fuck up your marriage, why does your husband hate you, why do you have a failed family life, why is your personal life a mess? Yeah I bet your kid will really love you some day for leaving her dad!"

Another example would be:

Otherkin: "I am an angel here to save the world but I am too sacred shitless to deal with reality, so I stick with online role playing instead... It is people like me that give indigo children a bad aftertaste since when I am busy trolling and glorifying myself online you know I really don't have time to make a real difference out there in the REAL world."

Those individuals who believe that although born human, their souls are those of a non-human being, animal or mythical creature. Many believe that they are reincarnations of such beings and are able to access memories of previous lives.
The movement is the source of much controversy, ranging form philisophical/intelectual and spiritual debate to mud-slinging, derision and name calling. Some 'kin are happy to lead what the great majority of people would describe as "normal" lives, finding solace, support and companionship amongst their fellows, free to explore the nature of their seemingly paradoxial existance. While others may appear eccentric, arrogant or insane to the bulk of the populace. It must be noted that as with all groups, organisations or belief systems the actions of a few can lead to a negative perception of the group as a whole in the eyes of others.Indeed some Otherkin view themselves as superior to "mundane" humans, blaming the modern ills of society and the world as a whole on humanity.
Believing themselves to at least partly inhuman. Otherkin are oft treated with hostillity.

Otherkin are a group of twats- sorry- "spiritual beings" who believe that they are wolves and dragons and elves, despite the fact that none of these creatures have ever been proven to exist on earth. When presented with this rebuttal, they then say something about other dimensions, even though these creatures were first "seen" as physical beings. So apparently for hundreds of years, people have just been getting it wrong until they showed up.

They also laughably claim to be very "critical" of their beliefs, and have to PROVE that they are actually were-dragon fairy rapists. They have "memories" about past lives, even though if they actually did, that would mean their brain would have to travel with them through their different lives. So not only would autopsies be fucked up, they'd have to have one in the first place.

They claim to be "different" from people, though they will also say that they lead normal lives and do normal things just like you! Wow. So not only do they not have to prove that they are magical elven pigs, but they don't even have to sustain this connection with the spiritual realm with such things as customs and habits and logic. Maybe because that would make them even bigger social-outcasts than they already are. And no one wants to be even worse than a regular otherkin.
Twat: I'm otherkin. I've been very critical of my beliefs so that I now know for sure I'm a donkey kelpie muppet.
Gail: Really? Prove it.
Twat: ...I have my faith.
Gail: I have faith that I should jam a rusty spear through your abdominal muscles. Don't be so close minded against me!

Otherkin are a fringe group of human society who, for one reason or another, believe themselves to be the reincarnation of mythic creatures, typically elves, though others include dragons, vampires, demons, angels, ogres, giants and so on. A related group is otakin or otakukin, who believe they are reincarnations of characters from Japanese anime, manga, and related computer & video games.

Otherkin often find themselves the subject of ridicule. In the majority of cases, it is because their beliefs fly in the face of logic and science and tend to fall apart very quickly under hard scrutiny. One of the most common beliefs is of an Elven Holocaust in which humankind supposedly wiped the elves from the Earth, despite the fact that no such evidence, archaeological or otherwise, exists anywhere in the geologic record.

Other aspects common to Otherkin belief include a sense of superiority over their fellow human beings. This takes a variety of forms, such as a tendency to ascribe positive aspects of the human personality as something only unique to Otherkin. "Mundanes", the rest of humanity who do not share their beliefs or are simply unaware of them, are looked down upon as inferior brutes.

This combination makes Otherkin very unpopular.
The Otherkin claimed to be the reborn soul of an elf slain eons ago by marauding humans, only to be looked at askance by the rest of his classmates who went back to eating their lunch.

A bunch of degenerate role-players that appeared during the advent of the internet and role playing games. Evidence points towards them as being escapists (i.e., a person who tries to escape the pressures of their life through non-orthodox methods), though they fervently deny this. They bitch about the human race and their "wrong" ways. Also they are depressed over the fact that they are not whatever the hell they like to role-play. This also shows more evidence of escapism. Otherkin are also a bunch of hypocrites because if you do not believe the bullshit that they tell people you are a "mundane close minded human."

One annoying thing about otherkin is that they are tree huggers and that they are concerned about nature. That means that they are hippies which explains a lot of things since hippies are retarded pot smokers like otherkin (although the pot smoking part is questionable, the retardedness is a self evident truth). The reason why they believe that they are otherkin because ever since they started bullshiting the idea that they are otherkin, it has manifested itself within their three brain cells to a degree where they have become too full of shit to realize they are full of shit.

Recently a group called otakukin has popped up. Otherkin seemed to have accepted them as one of there retarded own. Probably because they have little support for the shitty otherkin community and they need reinforcements real bad. Or because they are so stupid as to believe that they are a reincarnate of anime characters even if the anime was made after they where born.

The internet has seen a major increase in lunatics and is a very scary place for our children. I can see why insane asylums where so full back then. Not because of wrongly convicted people but to keep these idiots off the street.
Joe: Hey Bill that guy is an otherkin. He threatened to use magic on me if I broke his resonance.

Bill: What did you do Joe?

Joe: I performed some magic on his ass with my foot.

"Otherkin" is not a proper noun, although it is sometimes capitalised.

An otherkin is a person in a human body who either:

A) Believes that, mentally and/or "spiritually," they are not human;

B) Believes that, in a past life, they were not physically human;

C) Believes that they are a human vampire who needs a supply of energy to remain healthy.
My friend is an otherkin.

Many UrbanDictionary users hate otherkin.

Examples of otherkin are therianthropes, psi vampires, sanguinarians, Elenari, and angelkin.

A group consisting of people too weird even for the furry fandom... if that's physically possible.
Man, I hope I don't meet any of those otherkin at Anthrocon.

A person or persons who identifies with something other than human, be it a wolf, a cat, a tree, a blobfish, a dragon, an empty pepsi can, an asteroid; the possibilities are limitless. It's been around for about a decade, but it only became well-known--aha, sorry, a trend--a year or so ago (take note of the date this definition was posted) via Tumblr.

Upon visiting a site which is swarming with these delusional people, mostly Tumblr, DeviantArt, or FurAffinity, one may suddenly realize that they are the reincarnation of a half-dragon half-plant and join their ranks.

Otherkin claim that their struggles are on par with those of trans* individuals and similar, when in reality they just want to be a special snowflake. They often tell people to use pronouns such as kin/kinself when referring to them. Which sounds kind of stupid when you use it in conversation, to be honest.
"Ella seems to be under the impression that she's a plant, John. What do we do?"
"She seems to be in her otherkin phase. Let's just pray for her."
