Opposite of gut-shot (four out of five cards in a row that are missing the center number). Open-ended straight draws have better odds because there are eight cards that can make your straight. Gut-shots are less likely to suceed because there are only four cards that can help you. I was chip leader and open-ended. I didn't want the guy to double up, but he was like all-in with the blind, so I called it and caught the 5 on the river. Busted his pocket rockets.
