An expression of extreme emotion, used by those who retain the presence of mind to avoid causing offence by saying "Oh my G_d!". In really difficult circumstances, the variant "Oh. My. Hat." may be used. (While on a dive for NatGeo, or it may be the BBC, a giant Pacific octopus emerges from under a rock.)
