It gives the rest of Virginia a bad name. The area of the Commonwealth of Virginia, with about 3 million snobs next to Washington DC, that should to do the rest of Virginia a favor and seceed to Maryland. It's an urban hell on earth and the epitome of urban sprawl gone ammock. Unlike the rest of Virginia, it is generally liberal, highly diverse, highly urbanized, streets gangs (MS 13 is the largest), a ridiculous cost of living, agonizing traffic, too much urban sprawl, a highly skilled and young workforce, and too many arrogant yuppies who live close to DC. The most jobs are in the Federal Government, high-tech firms, healthcare, law, and communications. Asians, Hispanics and blacks live everywhere. As much as Northern Virginia sucks, the best places to live are in Centerville, Chantilly and Leesburg. Dont live any closer to DC than Fairfax or Reston. The people are very materialistic, fake, shallow, stuck up and think the country revolves around them. There is a megamall called Tyson’s Corner near the 495 Beltway that only rich people are allowed to patronize, and the regular middle-class ilk are mocked. Washington Dulles and Reagan National Airports are located in Northern Virginia. The people are up in the clouds and often forget they are SOUTH of the Mason-Dixon line and part of the old Confederacy. It is often difficult to get anything done in Northern Virginia (especially extending the METRO to Dulles and other plans to ease traffic congestion) because EVERYTHING is full of politics and Red Tape--perhaps due to the closeness of Washington, DC.
Northern Virginia gives the state a bad name.
I live in Northern Virginia for a few years, and hated every minute of it.
Has some of the America's worst traffic jams.
He got stuck in the traffic in Northern Virginia for hours and hours.
the part of virginia that ignores the rest of virginia because the rest of virginia isnt as rich, and is therefore labled a home for "hicks." Also known as the blue part of a traditionally red state, mostly because of its diverse cultural background. This part of the state of virginia is comprised of many identical developments with cliched names such as "oak hill", "maple ridge", or "pine meadow." Of course , the irony behind the situation is that the oaks, maples, and pines have all been cut down.
guy1: hey im a douchebag
guy2: move to northern virginia.
guy1: im way ahead of you.
A detestable suburban backwater of America's lame, bland and culturally vacant capital. Filled with characterless subdivisions populated with characterless people and the poor immigrants that serve them, this place is so utterly conventional and uninteresting that it actually makes Westchester, Long Island, and Northern New Jersey look like they aren't cultural wastelands. NoVA doesn't suck simply because it lacks museums and "culture"--this is to be expected of any suburb. It sucks because the city it borders sucks. That city sucks because it is the center of government, and to be successful in government, one must be as uncontroversial (hence, boring, conventional) as possible. Any individual considering giving birth and raising children should realize that forcing them to grow up in NoVA will stunt them intellectually, emotionally, and aspirationally, for the rest of their lives.
Kid: "Why am I so bored that all I do all day is (smoke pot/drink/smoke cigarettes) and/or try to act like a (redneck or rap star)?
Wizened person: Because you live in Northern Virginia. Hope you at least get into college or something.
Home of Latino gangs such as MS-13 ,South side locos, and 18th Street. If you don't believe google it!
In Northern Virginia, where police estimate MS-13 gangs have over 2,500 members in Fairfax county. People think Northern virginia have no gangs but they do!!!! try living in an area where you got to watch your back from gang members who would chop off your hands and fingers also they have enemies such as South Side Locos, 18th street, and crips such sets as GD, UGC, and 33rd.
A region in the north of Virginia
consisting of Fairfax
, Prince William, Alexandria
, and Falls Church
. It is a largely suburban area. It is home to an unusually high proportion of immigrants
and minorities, particularly Asians
. Because most Northern Virginians either moved to the area recently or are descended from people who did, the region's culture is not primarily Southern as the rest of Virginia is, and it tends to vote liberal
more than the rest of the state. Its economy is heavily influenced by its proximity to Washington D.C.
, and many residents work in the government or technology. These industries have made Northern Virginia is very affluent, and as of 2009, 4 of the top 10 highest-income counties in the U.S. are in Northern Virginia. Lower education in Northern Virginia is some of the best in the country.
Some immature Northern Virginians condescend to Southern Virginians and whine about their tax dollars going to the south. Some immature Southern Virginians complain about how arrogant, bratty, and stupid they like to imagine Northe...
Northern Virginia is a vast wasteland of overpriced, cheaply build, homogenous real estate that is inhabited by "upper-crust of society" suburbanites with no sense of community or civic responsiblity to others. Generally the people who live here are rude, elitest, pampered, disconcerned, ineffectual and perfectly content with the aformentioned.
Welcome to Northern Virginia, please leave your soul at the Stafford County line.
Northern Virginia has some of the nations worst traffic jams. The area of Northern Virginia now legally extends from D.C. South to Spotsylvania County, Virginia. The only reason Spotsylvania and Stafford Counties are considered part of Northern Virginia is because of the vast commuters to D.C. (Stafford is not any better than Spotsylvania what so ever, in fact Stafford has less population then Spotsylvania. Stafford - 138,000 ; Spotsylvania 145,000) Anyways, There are over 2 million residents in the Northern Virginia region. There are many cultures and languages and also a decent music scene.
I live in Northern Virginia.
I'm moving to Northern Virginia.
Northern Virginia has thirty mile back ups.
Yes, Spotsylvania and Stafford Counties are now technically in Northern Virginia as of mid 2007. If you have a problem with it, move away.
