A land of beauty in the South Pacific. New Zealand is without an army but it does not need one for they are not pissing off everyone with their arrogance. It's people are generally more laid back than Aussies although they are pretty laid back also most of the time. One more thing New Zealand is still to get over it's cultural cringe which is causing this "hatred" towards Australians.
New Zealand is still beautiful.

A pretty good country, with the exception of wannabe gangsters, and the National party. XD

Is also small, and not many people from other countries know very much about NZ.
And no, noone screws sheep -.-

NZ has like, the best rugby players in the world, lol
And some shitty place called the Beehive (lol, parliament)
Sir Edmund Hillary was from NZ, he was the first dude to climb mt Everest.
NZ is also home to Maoris, most of them are pretty awesome, there are a few who fall under the "wannabe gangster" category though. basically they are just like everyone else though, but they also have their own language, and they also created the "hāngi" which is like.. I cbf explaining, just look it up lol, but it is nice XD

Also I hear alotta people say random shit about Australia.. haha..
It's pretty stupid, there aint even any need for it, maybe they say something stupid like pavlova comes from there, and that we shag sheeps (omg seriously fucking, nobody NOBODY does that -.-) but noone has to retalliate, eventually if we stop saying stuff like that, they probably would too.. it's not like everyone means it when they say some of these things, but it offends some.. so yeah. lol

ohh and there is also 3 islands, The North Island, The South island, and Stewart Island.

Pavlova is nice... NZ cooking is ftw!

And incase anyone is wondering, we have proper houses, we don't live in little straw huts or anything like that, lol

Also it is pretty good for tourism. If you come over you can find out for yourself XD

Yeah maybe this is a terrible description of NZ but now you know some pretty random things XD

lol, merry christmas =D
New Zealand is cool.

New Zealand is awesome. We have lots of sheep in our country, more sheep than people, but this does not mean we fuck our sheep. That's like saying 'australians fuck their kangaroos'. Australians, may I add, think they are better than us because their country is ten times bigger than us. (I will leave the rest to you intelligent non-new zealanders to figure out)
New Zealand is home to the first person in the world to climb Mt. Everest, has a great tourism industry, as it is full of beautiful rolling green hills, as well as lovely forest filled with amazing native birds such as the kiwi and the tui, the air is really clean unlike some big cities in the USA and Australia which are filled with smog, also because it is small where ever you live you never are more than a two hours drive away from the ocean, and it also has a mountain ranges in the north and south island which are great for snow-sports in the winter. Of course the list goes on, but I would be typing for ever if I was to list all the reason why New Zealand is so brilliant. Of course it can be a bit chilly at times, but hey, only weaklings (and Australians) can't handle the cold. Toughen up.
tourist 1: so why are you guys in New Zealand?

tourist 2: I've been sitting in the beautiful natural hot springs in rotorua.

tourist 3: i've been carving up the mountain bro

tourist 4 (australian): *shiver* i'm fuckn cold my flips flops and shorts shorts are to cold. i need about seeex more layers, i'm not tough enough for this beautiful place

Ahem, I do believe that New Zealand is growing up and a very very worthy friend to Australia and always has been and therefore is worthy of respect. My version goes like this. A few people in New Zealand do tend to be juvenile towards Australia, however, some Australians tend to respond to that (or start it) by being arrogant. That aside, New Zealand has provided a great deal of assistance to Australia with regards to East Timor, Solomon Islands, etc. and therefore, neither patronising attitudes, nor a chip on the shoulder will not help. It has taken time, but New Zealand is growing up, hopefully encouraged to do so by many Australians, instead of being thought of as a child.
Australian 1: Instead of wanting to be isolationist and juvenile, New Zealand is growing up.

Australian 2: Come again?

Australian 1: East Timor, Solomon Islands, it was just that lack of confidence that held them back.

Australian 2: Oh right, well that's good to hear, I was wondering when NZ would grow the fuck up.

A nice country, made up of two main islands (the North, and South island, unoriginal, I know). It is a very green place, and yes, it has alot of sheep.

As far as I can see, it is not as beautiful as it is made out to be, but since I live in New Zealand, I am used to it, and don't know much better.

It does have beautiful forests, but the countryside is mostly farm areas.

It has the highest rate of youth suicide in the world.

On the plus side, Wellington (the capital city) has one of the largest number of restaurants per head in the world!

We do not actually hate Aussies, some people sometimes mock Aussies, in one way or another, but hardly any of them are serious.

I have yet to meet an incredibly racist person living in New Zealand.

Well, if you aren't very used to alot of green, then New Zealand is definately for you, and by the way, in the 80's we were incredibly backward, but now I'd say we are fine.

Oh, and if you are going to go to New Zealand, make sure you go in the summer, it can get quite wet and rainy in the winter (and incredibly windy if you go to Wellington) (for all you people in the US, your winter = our summer).

Places I reccomend:

I'd suggest you go to Auckland (the largest city in New Zealand), but not for too long as you run out of things to do very quickly.

Martinborough, in February, or March, so you can catch the Martinborough fair, which is quite nice, and you can also check out the vineyards if you have a taste for wine.

Taupo (halfway up the North Island), as it has a very nice active volcanic lake, which gets very warm.

Wellington (capital city), as you can see Parliament (what with its Beehive building (which although original,I fell is very ugly)), and the museum, which has a very nice history of New Zealand.

And in the South Island:

You should check out the Frans Josef glacier (but only if you haven't seen any glaciers before).

Queenstown, which is a great place for adventure sports, there are some quite nice skiing areas too (if you go in the winter).

Christchurch, which is also a big city in New Zealand, but not as big as most other big cities in other parts of the world.

You should also check out all the various nature walks, which are really beautiful, and are the best ways to experiance the nature in New Zealand first hand.

New Zealand would be a great place to move to for retirement, as it is quite laid back. New Zealand doesn't run much risk of terrorism, or nuclear war, as New Zealand is quite small and insignificant, and most people don't even know where it is.

As for living there, it's a great place for farming, if that's what you want to do.

The houses can be quite expensive, and I'd suggest you buy an old house, as some of the new ones can be quite small and ugly.

The TV is okay, you don't get the luxury of getting 100's of channels if you get cable, or sattelite, but you get enough, and anyway, in New Zealand you are far more likely to be out doing things instead of staying indoors, watching TV.

I would not suggest New Zealand for University.

The Primary and Secondrary schools are of a decent standard, not as strict as the schools in other parts of the world, unless you go to a private school, which is definately the way to go if you happen to have the money for it.

The New Zealand dollar is pretty weak vs other currencies, but it is rising, so things imported from other parts of the world can be quite expensive.

New Zealand is also becoming a very popular place to film movies, after the recent success of the Lord of the Rings (a bit over rated if you ask me, Peter Jacksons earlier films (the far more violent ones) are much better in my opinion).

So I would recomend it for a holiday only for those who really appreciate nature in all its glory, as it is hard to find places in the world as green as New Zealand.
Non New Zealander tourist: New Zealand looks like quite a nice country, I think I may go there some time.
New Zealander: Sure, it's quite a nice place, maybe you should do that.
Non New Zealander tourist: Okay....I will then.

a pretty cool country or so i hear near my country australia. Why does everyone from nz and usa on this site have 2 be so mean 2 us?! I think the kiwi accent is cool. A lot of people here say that kiwis fuck sheep but we also say that tasmania is the land of the inbreds and thats part of our own country so it's not like we take it that seriously. Whoever was bragging about peter jackson being from nz peter jackson is a bit of a scrubbo but he's a cool one so we'll give u him and russell crowe but russell crowe is just plain weird. I don't have anything against any country i just get angry at all the people who attack everyone elses countries wen they really don't know anything about it. Like america got a raw deal and people aren't too nice to us aussies either we aren't racist!!

The bomb diggity... Home of L&P, V, the Buzzy Bee, Footrot Flats, Jandals, Pavlova, Tip Top ice cream, Fish and Chips, Maketu Pies, Swandris, Paua Shell jewellery, the Silver Fern, beautiful scenery, gazillions of Sheep, Peter Jackson, LOTR, and all the best sportspeople and musicians.

Because of this, a lot of jealous Aussie bastards have claimed 'ownership' of true-blue Kiwi icons, such as Uncle Pete and the Pav.
