In musical theatre, regardless of the subject matter of a show, a song is written for a black woman to sing (or more commonly, belt) that is supposed to be a showstopper. Named after famed film and theatrical composer Marc Shaiman Ben: That black woman's random song in the second act really stopped the show in a good way.
Charles: It was smart of the composers to employ the Marc Shaiman rule. |
