An onomatopoeia for the sound that people from the former Yugoslavia region use often. Whether young, old, girl, boy, scholar, or someone raised in the upbringing but can't speak the language, it is a universal phrase. It is often used when one is stretching, in disbelief, disappointed, or other situations where noise comes out of the mouth for no apparent reason. In English, "joj" is essentially the equivalent of "oh" or "ah", and "ay" in Spanish. Joj is pronounced "yoy", like boy with a y at the beginning. American stretching: "Ughhhh. Ahhhhhhhh. That felt so good."
Yugoslavian stretching: "Ahhhhhhhhh. JOOOOOOOOJ, daj mi jos jedan cevapi." "That was due TODAY?! Jooojjjjj!" Mihajlo: "What do you call a Yugo with brakes?" Suljo: "What?" Zvonimir: "A Yugo? I don't know." Mihajlo: "Customized." Suljo and Zvonimir: "Joj hahahaha." |
