Jamaica Plain is a delicious melting pot of 2 different but compatible groups. On one hand you have your pot smoking, gray-haired lesbians who cart their adopted Vietnamese/Guatemalen kids to youth soccer via Tandem bicycles. In JP those brave enough to introduce their rat-tailed children to "other" cultures may do so by signing them up for JP Little League where they get plenty of Puerto Rican love and lots of that cheap sugary drink that you poke a hole in the top to drink. While the white people show up to practice in L.L. Bean subarus, the Ricans arrive a dozen to a low-riding honda accord complete with florescent bottom lights and the Puerto Rican flag draped across the rear window. JP has a great shopping center boasting Nubian soap shops and Afro-American/bitter feminist book shop, conveniently located next to the Foot Locker. As you can see JP truly melds cultures and freaks.
Sally: I'm in the mood for some good 'ol crunchy fun.
Jim: Let's go to Wake-Up the Earth day in Jamaica Plain...we can eat lots of tofu, listen to steele drums and get our face painted by mexicans.

A neighborhood of Boston that's split up into two parts: Jamaica Spain and Gay P. Jamaica Spain is where all of the Dominicans and Puerto Ricans live, and is home to some of the roughest parts of Boston, such as the Bromley-Heath projects. Gay P is home to a lot of gay and lesbian people, and is also a very affluent section of Boston. The richest people live in the Moss Hill part of Jamaica Plain, which seems to seperate itself from the rest of the city of Boston. It's very fun to raise hell on Moss Hill on Halloween, and then run away from the police.

Jamaica Plain to many outsiders seems like it would be a terrible place to live, but that is simply because it is currently being overrun by yuppies who listen to indie music and smoke a lot. Other outsiders who only know Jamaica Plain from the Jamaica Spain section would often call it a rough neighborhood that would suck to live in, but because of plenty of ethnic diversity, many people are attracted to live in Jamaica Plain.

Area of Boston, home to Jackson Square, one of the worst areas in Boston. On the other side of town, it is home to some of the richest areas of Boston.
Mike: Jamaica Plain is a sick part of boston, except for that rich part.
Jorge: Yea, some parts of Jamaica Plain suck.

Watch out for the crazy guy though who asks to see guys hands to guage their dick size.
Me in Jamaica plain: Hi I'm Dave, top of the morning to you.

Me in London: How's it going mate?
London person: Fuck off you mad cunt or I'll glass you.

A remarkably not-so-rough part of Boston. AKA, JP.
Me: some people consider Jamaica Plain a rough neighborhood.

Friend from Chicago: Some people are total pussies.
