| 1. | Gwynplaine | ||
|
A character in the novel 'The Man Who Laughs' by Victor Hugo about a man called Gwynplaine who had his face disfigured into a laughing mask as a child and falls in love with a blind girl called Dea. Gwynplaine is described as having a fine, athletic body, but a terrible face yet he is one of the sweetest men in literature therefore, the term Gwynplaine is used to describe inner beauty particularly about men. He certainly is a gwynplaine.
