This phrase came about in our friendly local poker game here in Maryland.... One night, a couple guys said they were 'going to Wendy's'... but came back with no food -- REEKING of marijuana!!! Hence, when anyone goes out to get blazed, we call it 'going to Wendy's..... 'I'll be back in a few minutes'
