To go absolutely and uncontrollably crazy both mentally and physically, akin to a gorilla fight. The outbreak usually ends within minutes but results in massive amounts of property damage. May also refer to:
1. The mating practices of gorillas during mating season, where competition leads to fierce, testosterone-fueled fights over dominance of the region.
2. The establishment of territory by the use of excrement.
Not to be confused with going ape shit, which refers more to the psychological attributes of the act rather than the physical intimidation.

It's to get hype or fired up and/or go crazy. You can go gorilla when you're happy or angry, sort of like beast mode. Check it.

Crazier than going apes. A more extreme of going apes or going ape shit. Can be used to be very angry or expressing to be very excited as long as its more than going apes.
I go apes over chocolate, but I am going gorillas over these chocolate covered strawberries.
