An individualistic act, expression or symbol one refers to as a response to a specific or ambiguous situations. Once this habit is established, that individual may than be associated with it, and will be recognized or known for referencing it often. A go-to move can either be claimed by the individual or it can be given by others without the individuals consent A go-to move can be received positively or negatively aka respected by others, or made fun of. Many times athletes have a go-to move they perform after scoring in a game “Look kid, going three-D can’t be your go-to move. Think of it as a special-occasion skill.”
