Locking Pliers (Vice-Grips)

The name comes from the tendancy for French (Quebecer) Workmen to cut corners and improvise tools. They often use Vice-Grips instead of a peoper size wrench or ratchet.
Look at that Jean-Guy hammering in those screws and tightening those bolts with a French-Wrench
