Final Fantasy 7 was the first game in the series to be featured on PlayStation. In a bid to appeal to more gamers, the series deviated from more medieval settings and characters to settings and characters reminiscent of anime, which was gaining popularity around the late 90s. Cloud's spiky hair and superhuman strength reeks of DragonBallZ, Tifa's enormous breasts reek of hentai, and Red XIII's talking animalhood reeks of Pokemon. Consequently, Final Fantasy went from having a fanbase of 1,000 to 1,000,000 overnight.

Compounding the effect was the fact that the internet and online message boards and chats were a new thing, so not only are there new fans, but they can easily converse about Final Fantasy 7, God's gift to gamers and anime aficionados. Eight years pass and the popularity of anime is now at epidemic levels, and Final Fantasy 7 is regarded by many as the best RPG ever. People are crying for a sequel.

Squaresoft is now in a tenuous position. Despite them throwing FF7 references and crossovers in every game, and despite the later titles being more in-synch with earlier titles, people didn't like Final Fantasy 8, 9, X or Tactics for the simple reason that they were not Final Fantasy 7. Final Fantasy 7 is one of the most overrated games of all time. While overrated, Final Fantasy 7 is an extremely solid RPG, however, the fan base has made the game out to be FAR MORE than it actually is.

This game follows the Adventures of a couple of kids as they set out to take down a evil corporation as well as a very Emo main villain. This game got so many stupid fanboys to have organisms, that a movie was made by Square called Advent Children. This movie, as you can probably guess, is also extremely overrated, the difference is that the movie isn't even any good.

SO lets start with the three grey-haired men. As the movie puts it, they are 'remnants.' They are in fact physical manifestations of Jenova's memetic legacy within the lifestream, sort of clones of a person's genetic remains, except instead of genetic, they are 'memetic' clones (born out of Jenova's or maybe Sephiroths will). the fact that Kadaj visibly disintegrates into part of the lifestream when he dies suggests that he was not born from a mother's womb, but directly from the lifestream which still contains the presense of Jenova who exerts some influence over the lifestream and Sephiroth (who is physically dead). Kadaj became sephiroth because when he took Jenova's head into himself, the jenova cells with their form changing capability did what ultimately would be in their best interest to survive and changed Kadaj into the greatest soldier ever to live in order to fight cloud.
Geostigma also links into the presence of jenova cells in the lifestream. When the lifestream, summoned by aeris, burst out of the planet to fight against meteor above midgar in the end of F...

a movie made in 2001 based on the final fantasy videogame series. Although VERY unpopular, the story was pretty good (not great, but good), and the graffics were done very well.
It's no epic, like the games, but it's nice to watch
