Ignoble business practice in which an employee is given the option to choose between being fired or accepting a lower possition with less pay and status. The employee usually takes whatever is offered, since in this day and age the prospect of being left on the streets is frankly terrifying. The term comes from the contraction of fired and hired. Also know as Schrödinger's Contract, since at some point of the process you have a job and lack one at the same exact time.
- You hear about Merrin? He was called to the managers office and offered to either gather his things and leave or accept an internship post.
- Bastards. They fihired him alright...
