A term coined by esteemed Gonzo journalist Hunter S. Thompson in his memoir, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. As used in the context of the book, the term refers to the consumption of near-lethal amounts of hallucinogens, narcotics, stimulants, alcohol and tobacco.

The term can also be seen as part of Thompson's commentary on the perceived descent of American society into moral degeneracy and hypocritical hedonism, largely due to the misguided and greed-driven leadership of national politicians, officers of the law, and local authorities.

Emotions felt when attending a party heavily populated with douchebags and douche-driven whores (who account for much of American female teenagers).
In a frenzy of fear and loathing, I escaped the "jumpin spot" of the party and found a secluded corner, where I chain smoked and drank someone else's rum.

Whenever you consume a vast plentitude of drugs and/or alcohol. It is a reference to Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, the work of gonzo journalism by Hunter S. Thompson (and adapted into a movie starring Johnny Depp). It is usually followed by the name of either the city you're in or whatever location the binge took place.

Great fuckin' movie! Got to add some points that have been missed: based on real events while Hunter S Thompson was supposed to be covering the Mint 400 (not filming it) - it was originally supposed to be a Sports Illustrated caption, not a book on the American Dream written in pure Gonzo journalism. The attorney is based on the real man, Oscar Acosta, who was also there and is Chicano, not Samoan. Hunter tried to get first SI, then Rolling Stone to cover "expenses" but they were deemed too outrageous - Random House paid for it, giving them future control of HST's book.
