The belief that earthquakes are relative to where you are in the world.
Link: "Maybe the fact that we moved to California moved the epicenter of earthquakes in the U.S. from California to where we were from."
Rhett: "That's called, 'Egocentric thinking'
Link: "I would call it, 'Egoseismic thinking'
Similar to egocentric, or believing that oneself has influenced the course of a storm or waves for example, egoseismic is believing that one has influenced seismic activity.
On the YouTube show Good Mythical Morning hosted by Rhett and Link, Link jokes that their move from North Carolina to California has caused earthquakes to stop occurring in California and start happening in North Carolina. Rhett then tells him that is called being egocentric, at which point Link corrects him saying that it would be called egoseismic.
If a person thinks he or she is the reason why an earthquake hasn't happened in the city where he or she lives.
Person 1: I moved to L.A. last year and there hasn't been any earthquakes since!
Person 2: Whoa, you're really egoseismic!
Thinking that earthquakes revolve around you.
From Rhett & Link's Good Mythical Morning.
Link: 'I will gladly accept being a Ego-Seismic, wherever I go earthquakes flee!'
Thinking wherever one goes, earthquakes flee. As heard on Rhett and Link's daily talk show, Good Mythical Morning on March 5th.
Link: Wherever i go, earthquakes FLEE!
Rhett:I think that would acttually be ANTI-egoseismic. Put THAT in the urban dictionary.
adj. believing oneself to have a causal relationship with seismic activity.
By moving to Las Angeles, Rhett and Link egoseismically believe they have shifted the seismic activity away from California.
A word invented by youtubers Rhett&Link. An egoseismic person is someone who beleives that they are the cause of seismic activity (e.g. earthquakes) happening or not happening in the region they are in.
Rob: Tim says that the reasons there haven't been any earthquakes in California since he moved there was because of him!
John: Wow! Tim's so egoseismic!
Where ever one goes, earthquakes flee or disappear.
I'm so Egoseismic - the earthquake disappeared when I got home.
