The purest of the purest form of crap. Virtually plotless, this book deserves to be banned. Outdated views of the world. Some gay emo dropout. This book SUCKS.
Catcher in the Rye is t3h uber-suXXorz.
Catcher in the Rye is about some phony named Holden Caulfield. He goes around talking to kids and trying to give girls the time. That kills me. And he always talks about his dead brother and how great his goddam sister is and all. I think he's some big phony. He's always talking about how annoying everyone else is and how he wants to save kids and run away to live in the goddam woods, but he does the same thing everyone else does. I get quite a bang out of that. He'll probably be the kind of guy who always talks about how many miles he gets in his goddam car. What a phony. He's probably flitty. I mean he can never get really sexy with a girl. You know, really sexy. I can be very sexy sometimes. Women kill me. Anyway, he really drove me crazy while I was reading all about him, but after a while I started to miss him. You know, how when you have to shoot the crap with some phony about how they want to run off and live in the woods, but then you don't see them for a few weeks and you start to think what a nice guy they are. You probably don't understand. You're probably the kind of guy who posts stuff you think is funny on some phony website. Like that Oscar Wilde phony. That kills me. It really does. Reminds me of a phony I once knew, some mac who just came up with fake quotations nobody really give a damn about. It was a sad occurence though, it really was. You know the part that really got me. The part that sometimes he was actually funny. Stuff like that always kills me. ...more...
Catcher in the rye is about a kid named Holden Cualfield going through life over a few days period.
It was banned by many high schools, and is probaly proclaimed the most banned book in the last century...
It's full of refernces to "Sex", lot's of swearing, and a few refernces to "Drugs", and full of "Alchohal"
WRITTEN BY - J.D. SALLINGER
Quote from Catcher in the Rye---
"'You know what I'd like to be? I mean if it'd be my goddamn choice'"?
'What? stop swearing.'
'You know that song, "if I body catch a body comin' through the rye? I'd like -'
'It's "If a body meet a body coming through the rye"!' old Phoebe said 'It's a poem. By Robert Burns.'
'I know it's a poem by Robert Burns."
She was right, though. It is "If a body meet a body coming through the rye." I didn't know it then, though.
"I thought it was "If a body meet a body,"' I said 'Anyway, I keep picturing all these little kids playing some game in this big field of rye and all. Thousands of little kids, and nobody's around - nobody big, I mean - except me. And I'm standing on the edge of some crazy cliff. What I have to do, I have to catch everybody if they start to go over the cliff - I mean if they're runni ng and they don't look where they're going I have to come out from somewhere and catch them. That's all I'd do all day. I'd just be the CATCHER IN THE RYE and all. I know it's crazy, but that's the only thing I'd really like to be. I know it's crazy."
Old Phoebe didn't say anything for a long time."
a really great book that most people find disturbing just because it has too many curses and sex and stuff. but these haters are all really idiots and hypocites who act like they never said a curse or thought about sex in their whole life.
Guy #1: Hey do u like the Catcher in the Rye?
Guy #2: F*ck no
#2: That guy curses alot.
One of the great American novels. Fascinating, stream of consiousness style by the famouse recluse author J.D. Salinger. Any adolescent who reads this book should beable to relate to the narrator, Holden Caulfield. He struggles with alienation, nihilism, and disillusionment with the modern, post-industrial captitalist state.
Catcher In The Rye is the only good book I ever read in highschool.
to stroke someone's hair in a creeper-like fashion, just like how Mr. Antolini did in "The Catcher in the Rye" to Holden Caulfield.
*comes up behind and creepishly strokes a person's hair* "I just Catcher in the Rye'd you"
A Catcher in the Rye is when, after taking a big dump, you reach down to wipe and fart on your hand.
A Catcher in the Rye is sometimes a precursor to aftershock
I just took and big dump when I reached down to wipe and out of nowhere came a Catcher in the Rye.
Catcher in the Rye was written by J. D. Salinger. It's a novel about a red hat wearing candyass who thinks all adults are phonies; failing to see the essential poseur that is so him! For some reason older Baby Boomers get all tear-eyed about this book, thinking it's the one that spoke for their generation which, unfortunately, we hear too much from already.
I found Catcher in the Rye to be boring
