|
Derived from "blog" + "academia" - term refering to the academic study of weblogs. Coined in 2003 as the title of a blog concerning a study of the language used in blogs.
With the increasing academic interest in blogs, perhaps blogademia will finally be able to tell us why people blog.

Also refers to the use of weblogs by academics. This can take two forms: as personal blogs solely concerned with self and also including discussions of their work; or as when used as a place to foster ideas and enable communication between academics in a field. Last month there was an article in a New York newspaper on blogademia.
