A band that everyone spends time arguing about,.. constantly.
Truth is, Blink-182 is just a fun band. People run around saying that their songs are stupid, and that they ruined "punk" music. However, as far as i know, blink-182 has never called themselves "Punk" or anything in that range. Also: "Punk is in the eye of the beholder" keep that in mind. Personally, *I* wouldn't describe them as punk (early stuff, maybe), either way, it's still great. Their music embodies the childhoods of children all over america, and parts of Peru. Although their early music may be called "easy" or "skilless" alot of their songs actually have require a large pool of musical ability. Carousel (an early song, has a killer bass part that takes some definite skill) as well as 'Man overboard'- a later song. Any song from the "enema of state" album onward has a definitly wicked drumming part. As far as guitar goes, it might not be complicated, but it really does MAKE the song. Which is all that matters. And that's what makes Tom a GREAT guitarist. They where almost sued for using the name "Blink" (that they had started under) So they where forced to change their name, they chose: Blink *182*. No one really knows why they chose Blink-182, but a common theory is because that is the number of times Tony Montana said "FUCK!" in the movie Scarface. Pre-Pubescent hater: "God i hate Blink-182"
Dude: "No you dont." Pre-Pubescent hater: "Your right... who could hate Blink-182?" ______________________________________________ Douche bag: "Your still learning that!??! I learned to play all of Blink-182's songs on guitar in like, five minutes" Bro: "Great. Now try learning them on drums." ______________________________________________ |

a band that "real punks" like to make fun of because they arent quite punk enough for them. Blink 182 is one of the most original bands out there, and its not impossible to like hardcore punk and Blink-182. They are not Simple Plan and they are not Good fucking Charlotte. They were around before those bands were picking up instruments, so suck my fucking cock if you don't like them -Ha look at this loser, he likes Blink-182!
-Ha look at this loser, he has my dick in his mouth! |

Not a punk band, theoretically. Ramones are punk. Sex Pistols are punk. The Buzzcocks are punk. Nonetheless, Blink 182 rock! They did NOT become crap after Enema Of The State (Just for the record) And in England we say 1-8-2, not 1-82, just so ya know. "Blink-182 are punk!"
"Fuck. You." "Blink-182 rock!" *Hugs sensible person* |

Tom, Mark and Travis.
Used to be funny, now they're trying too hard to be Serious. I just wish they'd go back to their stupid "Lets run around town naked" days. Blink182 isn't punk. But the members of the band are. Travis also plays Drums for The Transplants, with Tim Armstrong (Singer from Rancid) (Guitar and Vocals) and Skinhead Rob (Vocals). Blink182 isnt punk.
But the members of the band are. |

A three piece band from southern California that realized they could capitalize on a music scene that was never about capitalization. Immature and unrealistic to the core, they began to make music that dealt solely with issues not about politics and rebellion, as original punk music did, but about toilet humor, like getting a boner over a friends mother or pulling pranks and blaming it on A.D.D. Their following consists largely of fake tanned, Hurley sporting, big breasted teen girls who pretend to be surfers from Hawaii, and cirrhosis-ridden meat head jocks with puka shell necklaces and muscle shirts who think the mosh pit is a place to beat the shit out of people. When they see real punk rockers, they trash on them since the concept of punk rock is lost on them completely. Blink-182 CD's are commonly heard echoing through suburban neighborhoods, but seldom heard in cities, where the real underground music scene thrives. In short it is a pathetic band marked with even bigger fan losers. After they hear Blink-182's hit single "What's My Age Again?" coming from the window of Jenny's Volkswagen Jetta, Justin and Jeremy, two Sham 69 fans, savagly vandalize it after she parks it at the local Starbucks.

I don't get it. What's so punk about them. Where's the rebellion. All I see is a lead singer singing in a whiney nasal voice. If only there were some letter in the english language to represent a whiney sound.

An unoriginal, talentless "punk" band that gained popularity by making juvenile songs about sex, etc. "I just burned the new blink-182 CD."
"Sweet, can I have a copy?" "No, I literally burned it. It's a piece of crap." |
