Bernardston is a town in Franklin County, Massachusetts, United States, established in 1738. The population was 2,155 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Springfield, Massachusetts Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Bernardston is the stronghold where people of neighboring towns take refuge against the Ferret of Avaricious Taeniacide (FAT) that terrorizes Franklin County.
