A very broad catagory of people that others may consider anything from unethical to logical. In truth atheism (a-lacking; theism-beleif in a higher power) makes up a large number of people with different beleifs. Not all atheists are such because they don't have proof that God exists.

I, for one, am atheist because I know that if I were Christian, and I ended up in heven, I would feel guilty that a good many people in hell were there for eternity because they grew up with one set of "heretical" beleifs and "were never taught better".

I beleive that hell is a punishment that people are told they will face if they are not good to their fellow man. This would be a good thing, however, if, say, a Native American, who did not beleive Christ was the son of God and did only good during his life, goes to hell, that defeats the concept.

Nobody has the right to say one child is born with "original sin" and the way to cleanse him is to pay the church.

I have many reasons to be atheist (and science is one of them). It is always better to judge the individual than to put everybody into about 25 groups and dictate their right to live on this planet based on that.

Many people often confuse atheism with agnosticism, by saying that atheists are confused and have no faith whatsoever. This is not true. Although there are many different kids of atheists, the many principle is that there is no God or higher being. They do not always rely on science to come to this conclusion. Therefore, atheists do believe and have faith; they believe that there is no God and they have faith that God does not exist. Agnostics do not believe in God but they do not believe that there is no God. Atheism is often a teenage phase, but it also lasts for life. Some Atheists judge Christians, Jews, etc., but some do not, and I think it is very judgemental to classify all Atheists as "self-obsessed judgemental people who hate anyone who's not an atheist". In my experience, if you respect an Atheist's religion, they are, in most cases, more than likely to respect yours.
One:

Religious Person: Hey, I have youth group this weekend. Wanna come?
Atheist: Thanks, but no thanks. I don't believe in God.
Religious Person: Oh, that's cool. I respect that.

Two:

Religious Person: Hey, I have youth group this weekend. Wanna come?
Atheist: Thanks, but no thanks. I don't believe in God.
Religious Person: OH MY GOD. WHY NOT? JESUS IS MY LORD AND SAVIOR AND THE BIBLE CLEARLY STATES THAT. IT'S REALLY STUPID NOT TO BELIEVE IN GOD. I HAVE TO SAVE YOU.

Three:

Religious Person: Hey, I have youth group this weekend. Wanna come?
Atheist: OH MY GOD, NO. CHRISTIANITY IS A BUNCH OF FAIRY-TALES, STUPID MADE UP STORIES. YOU SHOULD BE AN ATHEIST, JUST LIKE ME, THEN YOU'LL BE SCIENTIFIC AND SMART AND LOGICAL AND STUFF LIKE THAT.
Religious Person: Erm... okay.

My Point Is:
Obviously, there are assholes in every religion / way of living that you think you should live just like them. Some Christians are like that, some Atheists are like that, some Jews are like that, and so on, and so on. This will never change, but just because you know one or two people like that, it doesn't mean that they are all like that.

one who cannot define logically, scientifically, or pragmatically the existance of a God
An atheist may say, "If there is a God, we would have figured Him out by now. But we haven't, so, logically, there must not be one."
A God-fearing Christian may say, "I may not see, understand, or sometimes find You, but I trust You are there because You promised."

"Little round planet in a big universe, sometimes it looked blessed, sometimes it looks cursed. Depends on what you look at, obviously, but even more it depends on the way that you see." Bruce Cockburn

One who, on evaluation of all the evidence presented, believes in the nonexistence of deities, God or otherwise. The term implies neither indecision nor the unwillingness to re-evaluate one's stance when presented with new evidence.
Atheists lack faith. Lack of faith is not a faith itself.

One who lacks a belief in god or gods. This lack of belief may manifest either as strong atheism (i.e., the positive position that there is no god) or in weak atheism (i.e., the position that current concepts of god make no sense or are irrelevant and thus it is unreasonable to believe in god).
"As an atheist, Harry never worries about What Jesus Would Do in any situation any more than he worries what Santa Claus Would Do."

true: a person who does not believe in any religions god. We do not suck blood or worship the devil.

False: persons who are vampires, evil, immoral, slut, or anything of the sort.
true: atheists are people who believ in theirselves, not a high-power

false: atheists are afraid of christians.

A person who denies the reality of God (particularly Jesus Christ, despite historical proof of His otherworldly being), and lives life 'free' trusting in science and 'logic'. This despite the fact that may be able to point out when and how the universe was created, but are unable to state WHY. Stephen Hawking himself made this point. Despite so much being unknown about what reality actually is, how it came into being, how colours, morality, love, the fabric of space and time 'happened', they consider themselves smarter than any faith bearing person, and pretty much anyone else they happen across. God loves atheists. Despite what they make think. Ironically, they are usually more militant about their lack of belief than faith bearing people are about their faith.
Stevie the atheist: "There is no God"
John the Faith-nut: "How did the universe happen?"
Stevie- "The big bang you idiot!"
John- "What caused that to happen?"
Stevie- "Pressure...eh...gasses...eh..."
John- "What caused the 'pressure' and 'gasses' to exist?
Stevie- "Eh...eh..."
John- "In fact, what caused existence to exist?"
Stevie-"Eh...eh...Darwin said that..."
John- "Who designed the tongue, instrument of Darwin's speech?"

This goes on for awhile. Atheists have nothing and no faith.

Until they're on their death bed.

One who denys on disbelives the existance of God.
Atheists are NOT the same as Wiccans.
